21.01.2022 Today, the Premier of Victoria and the Health Minister flagged changes to Dentistry in metropolitan Melbourne, to apply from September 28th 2020. Excerpts of the statement from earlier today read as follows: "Further changes will also mean an easing of restrictions for dental and allied health services in metropolitan Melbourne during the Second Step, from 28 September.... This means dental services in Melbourne will able to resume non-urgent procedures such as routine examinations, temporary fillings, simple extractions, preventive procedures like fluoride varnish and hand scaling, and dentures and orthodontic treatments...During the Third Step, most dental and allied health services will be able to recommence with a COVIDSafe plan..." The Australian Dental Association have clarified that while Level 2 restrictions allows the aforementioned procedures, it still has some limitations involving aerosol generating procedures such as use of rubber dam, no ultrasonic scaling of teeth, and some dental extractions. Bay Road Dental has been operating with a COVID safe plan since April 2020. We will be doing our best over the next few days to keep you all informed, while prioritising the patients who have been placed on our priority lists these last few weeks. 17.01.2022 The Premier of Victoria has announced a State of Disaster for Victoria effective as of 6pm on August 2nd 2020 in response to community transmission of Covid19. Melbourne will also enter Stage 4 restrictions in force from 11.59pm on Wednesday 5th August 2020. As of right now, dental care remains essential and a valid reason Victorians can leave their homes outside of the 5km rule. Bay Road Dental is still conducting urgent and emergency treatment. The Chief Health Officer and ...the Australian Dental Association are currently working on an update on what the full impact of Stage 4 restrictions has on the level of care we can provide you. If you have an urgent matter, we suggest to call us on 95983580 and we will do our best to help prioritise your dental concerns. Telehealth consultations remains available for those who request it. 15.01.2022 LEVEL TWO RESTRICTIONS: Restrictions surrounding dental services have recommended to be eased to LEVEL TWO as of April 27th 2020. This means it's NOT QUITE business as usual just yet, as aerosol producing procedures will still be limited. However we remain AVAILABLE for all urgent and emergency treatment, while prioritising the procedures that have needed to be deferred recently. 10.01.2022 LEVEL TWO RESTRICTIONS: Due to the increased risk of transmission of COVID-19 in the Metropolitan Melbourne community, Bay Road Dental has tightened back to Level Two Restrictions as of 15/7/20. This is a difficult but necessary decision as recommended by the Victorian Chief Health Officer and the Australian Dental Association Infection Control Committee. While the number of active cases in Bayside are relatively low compared to other Local Government Areas, we feel an impor...tant responsibility to our patients and our staff during this delicate situation Victoria is going through. This means we are still OPEN for treatment however, our treatment will be limited to non aerosol producing procedures, or the use of rubber dam isolation for procedures where possible. We can still see you for emergencies, certain consultations, denture procedures, Invisalign, and some filling procedures. It excludes treatment such as standard ultrasonic cleaning, non urgent appointments, and surgical extractions. We are also still available for teleconferencing consultations. Our infection control procedures remain as stringent as ever around screening of patients, temperature checks, environmental cleaning, pre-procedural mouthrinses, alcohol based hand rubs and now the provision of masks to patients where social distancing cannot be maintained. If you have an upcoming appointment, one of our friendly team members will be in touch to explain how the new restrictions impacts you directly. 07.01.2022 LEVEL ONE RESTRICTIONS: National Cabinet has approved a move to Level One restrictions in Dentistry. Most treatments will now be available. Bay Road Dental is working hard to help prioritise your next appointment. Be on the lookout for more updates here soon. We have a new "normal" in place already at our clinic including contactless entry/exit, alcohol based handrub in the waiting room, no magazines/toys, pre procedural mouthrinses and of course the strictest of infection control and environmental cleaning. These precautions do mean more time is required between appointments to ensure your health and safety- we appreciate your understanding in these times.
