24.01.2022 An ACL graft rupture is a devastating problem that can occur for a variety of reasons. This young soccer player had a hamstrings graft ACL done overseas and had ACL tunnel malposition. He had a traumatic graft rupture and a lateral meniscal root tear. In some cases of tunnel malposition, a staged procedure is performed. The first stage involves bone grafting the old tunnels and giving it time to incorporate. For the 2nd stage, we can start fresh and improve on the previous tu...nnel position. For this patient I chose a patellar tendon graft as it is a solid graft with a low rerupture rate. A lateral tenodesis was also added to provide more rotational control. Finally, the lateral meniscal root was repair to protect the cartilage and increase the overall stability. Now that the easy part is done, I’ll hand his care over to the expert physiotherapists who will do the hard part (rehab) and get him back to sports. #acl #aclsurgery #meniscus #active #ortho #orthopedics #sport #sportssurgery #sportsinjury
