19.01.2022 Matt’s Place in the time of a pandemic Here is an quick update from Jaqueline Hendrey who runs our Matt's Place Community Meals program at Longbeach Anglican Parish about how they have been getting on! "We have had to reimagine and recreate Matt’s Place for Covid times. Do we still cook delicious food? YES! ... Do we still create meals on a shoestring budget? YES! Are we still very grateful for ingredients collected from SecondBite, ALDI, FareShare and Foodbank Victoria? YES! Are we still very grateful for our partnership with Bayside Church? We couldn’t do it without them. Do we still rely on extraordinary volunteers? YES! It is a privilege to serve our community by showing God’s love in the provision of meals, a quick conversation and a smile that is recognised by the crinkling of eyes behind our masks. Our guests tell us each week, when they pick up their take away meals, how much it means to them that they are still able to not just pick up food but have a quick Hello, how are you. -Jaqueline Hendrey, Matt’s Place Chelsea

Please be sure to wear a mask and maintain social distancing when coming to collect your meals - and bring an empty supermarket bag to carry everything home in! Matt's Place Community Meals Program is free to anyone in the community who needs a fresh, home-cooked meal! We run the program in two locations; Chelsea at Longbeach Anglican Parish and Cheltenham at St Matthews Anglican Hall.
