16.01.2022 What butterfly is that? Everyone counts. Why not download BioCollect onto your smart device. It's a free app and can be found at Google Play or the Apple Store.... It makes participating in Brisbane's Big Butterfly Count easy! 31 common butterfly species are depicted, so identification is made easy. Mark your location, mark the butterflies (and their quantity) and submit. We can't wait to find out which one of our butterflies is seen the most. Great engagement for the entire family! 16.01.2022 Mangrove Gerygone (Gerygone levigaster) (immature) perching in a Casuarina tree. I was confused about what this little fellow was until I sought verification fr...om an ID group. The adult Mangrove Gerygone have white eyebrows, red eyes, full black bill and are overall grey, not brown. Wynnum Mangrove Boardwalk, Wynnum, Queensland, Australia. 15.01.2022 Went along to a Planting by Brisbane City Council & B4C in Minnippi Parkland. It was a hot morning & planting trees & scrubs where once a weedy grass patch. This parkland is where I used to take my daughters for a walk & once a birthday party. Now in their adult years. The place is much the same but it has grown to a beautiful spot to walk & discover the wildlife. How blessed we are to have parkland like this. Good to see many people interested in the environment. And enjoying their company. [Sonya Kerslake]

This shot was taken by the Bay at Manly, these tall guys can be seen all along the Wynnum Manly waterfront stretch. Hoop pines are know for attracting birds, beatles and are very drought tolerant, overall helping support a healthy ecosystem. The Bayside Wilderness Society are a group of like minded local residents around the Bay who work together to protect the environment in our backyard and beyond.
