19.01.2022 Mayor Joe Awada caught up with our rangers and members of the NSW Police Force this week on the Botany Bay foreshore. This summer, our rangers, together with additional Police patrols and our Summer Foreshore Ambassadors will be roaming the foreshore and encouraging everyone to act responsibly.

18.01.2022 Happy Halloween kids (and not so little kids ) Thinking of trick-or-treating this evening? The NSW Government and NSW Health have some very useful tips on having a COVID-safe Halloween;... Carry hand sanitiser with you and use it often Stay in small, physically distanced household groups Use a disposable (and hopefully recyclable) trick-or-treat bag and dispose of it appropriately afterwards Stay local and avoid crowded "treat streets" Only accept individually wrapped treats and don't share treats with others from different households Remember, if anyone is unwell, get tested immediately and stay home. Halloween will be back next year Have fun and let's be COVID-safe

09.01.2022 While 2020 is the 102nd anniversary of the end of the First World War, it is also the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Mayor Joe Awada attended a Remembrance Day Commemorative Service at the Brighton RSL Sub Branch where he also presented local resident and WWII veteran Patrick Driscoll with a Second World War Commemorative Medallion and Certificate It is a wonderful honour to present this medallion to Patrick and It is important that we continue to re...cognise and honour those who fought for our nation and freedom. the Mayor said. The Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs produced the Commemorative Medallion and Certificate of Commemoration acknowledging the significance of the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. 09.01.2022 Blue skies and sunshine A perfect recipe for zoning out on our 8kms of beachfront It's important to remember we still need to stay apart 1.5 metres (that's a beach towel width ) and to have a personal space of minimum 4 square metres Because #COVID19

08.01.2022 Sorry Montereyans, Brightonians, Ramsgate-ians(?) and to everyone on the beach We're just as disappointed as you with the perceived lack of progress on the swimming enclosure nets being installed, but it's all been down to Mother Nature. For the nets to be installed securely and safely by our specialists , Botany Bay water has to be flat as a tack.... Fingers crossed, this week will prove to be a calm one

Mayor Joe Awada, who launched the new collection today, Wednesday 14 October 2020, was joined by Mr Rishi Acharya and his family who also participated in the State Library’s Nepalese Collection Launch at Rockdale Library in 2014, and Basudha Karki from Sydney Multicultural Community Services
