11.01.2022 2 wins from 4 games for the senior teams today. The first eleven got back to second on the ladder with a commanding win over Middle Park with 7 wickets in hand and in excess of 20 overs to spare. Middle Park batted first and despite a miserly early spell by club champion Bambridge (2-13 off 8 overs) made their way to 3-83 before a big collapse saw them all out for 97. Richie Hunter with 5-20 off 8, Cam Doherty 1-5 off 6 and Rumesh with 2-25 off 8 doing well Sometimes a s...mall total can cause a tricky chase but evergreen Dave McLeod and the hard hitting Rumesh opening the batting put on a quick fire 84 in 14 overs to put the result beyond doubt. Despite losing 3 quick wickets Ryan Smith and the in form Harrison Bean saw the hone side home with 7 wickets in hand and 21 overs to spare to secure a valuable bonus point. The second eleven played Chelsea at Chelsea and batting first scored a competitive total in the 150’s. Our captain Devin O’Keeffe (the Doc) and Rishi Pradhan both dominant with scores in the 40’s. The Bayside bowlers were in control most of the game and despite the final margin being about 20 runs, Chelsea never really threatened to win. Best with the ball was Lochie O’Hara with 3 wickets and well supported by the other bowlers. The third eleven hosted Beaumaris at Dane Rd. We were sent in and bowled out for 102 with 3 overs to spare. One of the highlights being seeing the 3 Mountys all bat together in the one innings. Sadly Beaumaris were able to pass the total for the loss of only 3 wickets The 4th eleven won the toss and elected to bat away to Bentleigh at Centenary Park. After a few early wickets opener Mitchell Sugden (21) and captain Earl Fernando (20)steadied the ship. However a steady stream of wickets after they were dismissed saw us all out for 85. Young Farhan Hussain impressive with a well compiled 10 and Nigel Barrie stranded on 13 no Bentleigh batted very well and were able to pass the total without the loss of a wicket. Youngsters Farhan Hussain and Sahil Shaik bowled impressively. Please note next weekend is another past players weekend so keep your eyes out for the details for next Saturday
