13.01.2022 TOO MUCH SITTING? With our current pandemic situation, we are all sitting a lot more and for longer periods than usual. Poor sitting posture can often be the cause of back problems. When we dont seat ourselves correctly and safely, the spine is subjected to abnormal stresses that over time can lead to unnecessary wear and tear of spinal structures, reduced function and poor health. HERE ARE SOME HEALTHY SITTING TIPS:... Sit with your weight distributed evenly through both seat bones (ischium) pay particular attention to this when driving as its easy to forget. Dont slouch! When you slouch, the weight distribution shifts from your strong seat bones to your tail bone (sacrum) which is not designed to with stand this amount of pressure. Remove your wallet from your back pocket before sitting, as this creates an uneven surface to sit on and will cause your pelvis to tilt. Avoid crossing your legs or sitting with them curled up on the sofa. Use a foot stool or lumbar roll (or both) at your desk to help keep you in the correct posture. Make sure you take regular breaks, which include a short walk and gentle stretch. Being aware of your posture during all of your daily activities is the best way to ensure you are using good body mechanics. Its easy to incorporate the tips mentioned above into your daily life and soon they will become second nature to you. Give them a try and see if you notice a difference. #chiropractic #chiro #Bayswater #wellness #wellbeing #sittinghabits

12.01.2022 Sore Neck? Consider A Chiro Does neck pain stop you from being your best self? Between looking at screens all day, to mobile phones and even sleeping, our necks are in all kinds of positions day in, day out. On average Australians spend 10 hours engaging with internet connected devices every day. If you suffer from neck pain, youre not alone. Up to 50% of people will experience neck pain at some poin...t in their life. If youre looking for an alternative to treating neck pain, why not consider visiting a chiropractor? Chiropractors work in partnership with their patients to provide appropriate, tailored care as well as provide lifestyle advice to help prevent reoccurrence. Why not call us today on 9720 7811 or book online at www.bayswaterchiro.com.au. #considerachiro #chiropractic #chiro #wellbeing #wellness #bayswater
12.01.2022 #WorkingFromHome - Tip: If you dont have a separate study in your home, setting up your office on the kitchen table can be a great alternative. Just remember to bring your ergonomic chair to the table and sit with you shoulders back and relax. Make sure you have both feet on the floor or on a foot rest.
11.01.2022 Chiropractors are often asked, Can cracking joints be cured? The simple answer is that it depends what is causing the noise: muscle and tendon tension, nitrogen bubbles, or arthritis. For tight muscles and tendons, adjustments and stretching may help. Those with arthritis will often need support and therapeutic interventions to calm the pain and increase function. If you have a cracking joint, speak with us at your next appointment. An assessment will likely identify the cause. Then, together, you can decide on the most appropriate treatment. Remember though, most joint noise is harmless.

09.01.2022 Many people are enjoying tackling D.I.Y. tasks around the house at the present time. It can be surprisingly therapeutic and before you know it several hours have gone by and the wall you were painting looks great and you hop off the ladder feeling pleased with a job well done. Its often not until the next day that you realise there was a price to pay for your D.I.Y. enthusiasm ... your back!... Do you suffer from back pain after working on or around the house? Its not uncommon, here a few helpful tips to make your next D.I.Y. project more comfortable:- * Make sure you pace yourself and take regular breaks and walk around to get some movement through your joints. * Where possible kneel rather than bend. This prevents additional stress on your spine and helps the muscles in your lower back to remain relaxed. * Dont sit down immediately after you have finished. Ideally go for a ten minute walk rather than heading straight for the couch. * Gently stretch you major muscle groups afterwards - particularly your legs if you have been up a ladder, as those muscles will have been working hard to help you maintain balance. If you would like more information, please do not hesitate to ask at your next appointment. #chiropractic #chiro #wellness #D.I.Y. #bayswater #painting
