25.01.2022 CUP FLASHBACK FRIDAY - 2013 Bayswater 1 Hampton Park 0 After rolling the champions Langwarrin in the semi, our girls got themselves the courtesy of a typical predator’s finish from Ronnie who caused havoc throughout with her speed and power. The girls well and truly deserved the win.

23.01.2022 HAPPY MOTHERS DAY Thank you to all of the mums who support the members and the club, we can’t do what we love without you

22.01.2022 Happy Friyay. Here's round two of the Where's the Ball game, but really it was an excuse to dust off a few decent action shots from the vault.

21.01.2022 Looking for goal keeper and 2x outfield players to complete the 2020 women’s team - all I interest and skill level welcome.

18.01.2022 ** - ** With the 2020 season cancellation and the ongoing lockdown situation in Victoria, it’s safe to say that it has been quite the roller coaster year for everyone at the club. On Tuesday evening, committee members met to discuss a number of matters as we prepare to close off 2020 and look toward a rewarding 2021. While we have not yet been able to schedule our AGM, it is our intention to hold an open event before years end and to elect the... 2021 committee. At present, given the current roadmap for Victoria, we’re unable to provide a firm date, however, should the situation not improve to allow an open event, we will look at alternative online solutions to conclude 2020. For the moment, the current committee will continue to serve until we can hold our AGM, in one form or another. As for season 2021, we will be watching closely at how the cricket season unfolds. We’re aware that clubs are expecting to start from mid-November. This will give us a good guide as how best to prepare for the on the fly challenges presented to those clubs. Once we have some more concrete information on 2021 and any VCFA information, we will provide further updates. Be sure to keep an eye out for some upcoming posts, more on that soon. Wishing everyone good health and safety in these trying times. 2020 BSSC Committee

18.01.2022 ** - & - & ** : Ronnie, aka Veronica Castro-Toivonen ... : First season was 2012 : Bulleen Lions - 1995 : Striker and I don’t mind a run down the wing too! : Luis Figo - his free kicks were spectacular : Real Madrid and the Portuguese national team : Scoring the two goals against an undefeated Langwarrin and watching them self-destruct when we beat them to reach the Cup final! : So many to choose from, but Eva stands out for her determination on the pitch and at training, plus off the field she’s a good friend and always having a laugh. : Winning the Bayside League Cup in our inaugural season the elation shown by the men’s team when the final whistle blew was something I’ll never forget. It meant as much to them as it did for us players and that’s what the spirit of the club is all about. ? Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore ? Make sure you have a good nickname before one is picked for you classic example my husband Spooge! ? Memories over money what’s in your memory bank is far more important than what’s in your bank account ? Watching Gordon Ramsay TV shows, stalking Ronaldo on social media, beach days, plus anything that involves spending time with my family and friends : Cheese! ? Ricky Martin - The Cup of Life CD single, not my best choice

13.01.2022 *** - *** While our 2020 season was sadly cancelled, even in these tough times it’s fantastic that we can announce further support from our local branch of Bendigo Bank, Wantirna Community Bank Branch. We are extremely grateful for the continued support from John and the whole team at the branch and thank them for assisting us despite the season not getting off the ground.... We look forward to proudly displaying the Wantirna Community Bank logo into next season around the club, on our website and social media platforms. Despite the current restrictions announced by the Victorian Government, as an essential service, they remain open Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 5:00pm, so if you’re looking for a better banking experience, be sure to get in contact with them. If you do need to visit in person, be sure to mask up and keep your distance. - 5-6 348 3152 : (03) 9720 4122

11.01.2022 IT DOESN’T MATTER HOW, IT MATTERS HOW MANY Two wins and a draw for our weekend of practice matches was good to see as our teams kick on towards round one in the first week of April. The Don scored a last minute scrambled winner to put the seniors up 2-1 ‘controversially’. Do you think it should have stood?

10.01.2022 WEDNESDAY WIZARDRY We stumbled across this nice hit (taking advantage of the ‘wall’) from former captain Ally McNair in August 2017 that secured a 2-2 draw away from home against eventual Bayside PL champions Boronia. The seniors finished third in our last campaign before moving to our new competition. Ally came up big for the club a number of times, scoring important goals at crucial times.

10.01.2022 Fantastic News for our local clubs. We are looking forward to getting back out there for a revised 2020 season!

10.01.2022 FAIR BIT GOING ON IN ISOLATION The Baysie gang is doing what it can to keep exercising in the current times, with seven teams of four undertaking a step challenge while we wait to get back into it. All teams are well on the way to a million steps each in the first month ... The team challenge for bonus points last week was to post a photo exercising with a soccer ball, and we just had to share the dedication of Team FAM to the photo. 04.01.2022 A CRACKER ON THE WAY TO THE TITLE Our senior team won themselves their sixth Bayside FA Premier League in seven years in 2013, with a fantastic team. The midfield duo of Steve D'Urso and Kyle Crawford was magnificent throughout with this 3-0 away win down at Rosebud a great performance. This link will take you straight to the opening goal that day, which was the supremely talented Kyle Crawford at his best, linking with Steve and smashing an arrow straight into the top right corner.

03.01.2022 ** - & - & ** : Wayne Brown (SPIDERMAN)... : 7 years, Debut at 42 years of age, retired at 48 years of age : Waverley City Soccer Club 1971 at 6 years of age : Striker/ Sweeper/ Keeper loved them all : Lionel Messi and Thierry Henry : ARSENAL FC : Playing a game with my brother Glen and my son Corey on the same team at once. : Many, many, but at all levels in my career, Steve Durso was the best player I played with. Most memorable though. - Nick Van Egmond = nicest man you will meet - Mark Murphy = Taught you far more than football - Every baysy girl were top shelf characters and nice people - Rookie = I am amazed he is still alive - Chris Jaques = Robocop - Colin Mr Happy = couldn’t see a friggin thing with him at centre half (fat bastard) - Emelyn = Brilliant player, just ask him - Putzy and his fishizzle So many many more I could write a book but not to be published till after I am gone. : 6 League titles, An undefeated season conceding only 6 goals, and the birth of Spiderman the keeper at Bayswater. Steve Durso at the irish bar falling asleep on the toilet and taken out the back door and put in his mums back seat to go home (lightweight). ? Michale Buble Spiderman at home and Mika- Big Girls you are Beautiful at away games. ? Enjoy every single moment, some of the best times will be on the training track and the laughs you have, cherish every game you play, respect every player you play with, it is and always has been a team game. Win with respect and suffer your losses with dignity. Most of all cherish your friendships and bonds you make along the way they will last a lifetime and always be special. Learn your lessons on the field as they apply off it as well. It never lasts long enough but it is the greatest game on the planet. ? The mighty Malcolm my mentor who taught me everything I dont know Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah or keep the faith from the Gaffer. ? My car making it look as ridiculous as possible : Thai Food or a Baysy Burger. Burnt pizza with Mark Murphy in Albury ? What’s a CD? First Vinyl was Sex Pistols - Never mind the blocks.
