11.01.2022 Hi All A few Rats members will be at Bayview on Sunday assisting with some research in conjunction with MTBA. So it would be great if you can spare a few minutes to answer some questions for this study. ... Look forward to seeing some of you on Sunday! Regards Lonnie

09.01.2022 We received notice from Logan City Council that our permit to use Underwood Park has been withdrawn due to concerns about rider safety and damage caused to the ...area. The club wasn't consulted as part of this decision and we'll be taking it up with the council. We're looking at alternative dates available and will provide an update as soon as possible. Underwood Park remains closed to riding as does Daisy Hill for the weekend. For riders that have entered already, those entries will be either refundable or transferable to the next event.

08.01.2022 Bayview Blast 2020 Update The Rats Cycling Club is reviewing the current COVID-19 situation across Australia and in particular the local requirements around the Redlands and SE Queensland for hosting events. Over the next 2 weeks we will be looking at the viability of the 2020 event and will make and communicate our decision on whether we will proceed before the end of March. (Entries don’t open until 1st April)... With such a large investment for the club, our sponsors and most importantly you our riders we want to make an early call either way. Thanks for your understanding at this time. I hope you all get your wheels dirty (in small groups) over the next few weeks. Cheers Lonnie Race Director Vice President Rats Cycling Club

07.01.2022 Hi All MTBers looking for a spin at Bayview this Sunday please be advised that there is a trail running event there on Sunday morning. So it may pay to head somewhere else this weekend, unless of course you want to leave the bike at home and go for a run..... :)... https://www.facebook.com/events/2421573061398912/?__mref=mb

04.01.2022 To all Rats members and the general mtb community take care out on the trails this weekend. Current bushfire activity occuring in the Mt Cotton area is not too... far away from Bayview, Gramzow Road, and Cornubia. So please checkout the bushfire incidents map before heading into the forest for your rides this weeked. https://www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au/map/Pages/default.aspx

02.01.2022 Bayview Blast 2020 has officially been cancelled. RATS Cycling Club has confirmed the following: Bayview Blast 2021 - 12th & 13th June 2021. ... While still two months away, there is not enough certainty to justify the risk of investment needed for an event of this size. We are working on some different options for the 2021 event and we look forward to sharing those details, as well as announcing our major sponsors for 2021, in the coming months. Each year we provide participants who hold current MTBA membership but not RATS Cycling Club membership, a complimentary RATS Cycling ‘club-only’ membership. Those who participated in the 2019 event will have that RATS Cycling Club membership rolled over for another 12 months. In the meantime, keep spinning those pedals and enjoy your time on the bike, albeit with a little extra distance between each other!

01.01.2022 The countdown begins to the 2021 Bayview Blast - 6 months to go. Once again the Blast is scheduled on the NSW/VIC Queens Birthday long weekend. So why don’t you turn your weekend race into a mid winter holiday. The racing may be fast and furious after the race relax and recover in the Redlands! ... https://youtu.be/FqxWekZqA0A

01.01.2022 Bayview Blast 2020 Strava Challenge Due to the event not proceeding this weekend we decided to mark the weekend with a special strava challenge. What do you nee...d to do to participate? Step 1 - Have (or get) a strava account Step 2 - Join the RatsCC Strava Club Step 3 - Ride the 2019 Bayview Blast lap (once is enough) between Friday 5th June 6am and Sunday 7th June 5pm (as per the segment highlighted on this post) Step 4 - Upload your completed ride the includes the BVB19 Segment before 6pm on Sunday evening. Step 5 - Upload a photo once you have completed the course (Ok this optional but we would love to see the joy or pain on your face at the end of the ride). A few things to take note of. The course signage (green arrows) may not be on every corner. It is your responsibility to navigate the course. The course is 40km long starting at the event carpark so you need to be self-sufficient from that point for that distance - there are no water points, no first aiders, no marshals on the course. The RatsCC strongly recommend riding with a friend (at an appropriate physical distance though). The course is open to the public this weekend so please dont be a strava$$h@!e. We share the trails with other users including runners, mtbers of all abilities and horse-riders. Timing on strava is final. There are no prizes so no need to shortcut the course or create strava lines. This is a simple challenge to recognise that whilst we are missing our racing we are very lucky to be able to ride throughout the Covid19 situation. BVB19 KOMs Female - Holly Harris - 1h 58m 08s Male - Tasman Nankervis - 1h 45m 18s https://www.strava.com/segments/20831006
