24.01.2022 Winter at "B&B Wanulla". The fire going which guests are able to enjoy with evening drinks or port & chocolates in the evenings,
23.01.2022 Our first rose for Spring. Granada which is also the logo for "B&B Wanulla". My mother had a Granada rose bush outside her retirement unit & we were determined to identify it. "The most fragrant of the multi-colored roses. The urn shaped buds open into classic, large, double 4-5" blooms (petals 24+) , produced on long cutting stems. ... Continual blooming 'Granada' exudes a strong, spiced scent, making it a good cut flower." It is a beautiful rose an the perfume is amazing.
21.01.2022 Very pleased to hear that we have been awarded the Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame by Trip Advisor. This is the result of earning a Certificate of Excellence every year for the past five years, in addition to twice receiving Travellers Choice (being in the top 25 B&B's in Australia). Toowoomba is enjoying beautiful autumn weather - the leaves are already changing colour & our current guests are sitting in front of the fire enjoying a drink & canapes. As always - we look forward to welcoming both return guests and new guests to enjoy our home 'Wanulla".
20.01.2022 It is always lovely when guests have family members living in Toowoomba & they join the B&B guests for either an afternoon tea or an evening drink. These two grandchildren had a lovely time - not only enjoying the biscuits & cake but also playing games on the front lawn.
19.01.2022 Our last B&B guests departed yesterday and now we are closed temporarily until the situation improves, the health crisis is brought under control and we feel safe (& are able) to travel again. We enjoyed the company of Ross & Cheryl at the beginning of the week, who have stayed with us over the years since we first opened in 2012. After the slow start of the building of our new home, we think that the slab will be completed by the end of this week. We look forward to welcoming friends / guests back to B&B Wanulla in the future - probably just to the end of September. Stay safe & well and thank you for all your support.
19.01.2022 "B&B Wanulla" is of course currently closed - following the government guidelines. However, we are very much looking forward to the 12th June when Queenslanders can travel up to 250kms within their own region and can stay away. We are certainly looking forward to welcoming guests and friends back to "Wanulla" after that day. In the meantime stay well & safe.
18.01.2022 Have just received a cancellation of a COF's booking. We now have our deluxe room available on the 19th & 20th September if anyone would like to visit the gardens. The parks are already looking amazing.
17.01.2022 We are very pleased to announce that with the easing of covid travel restrictions for Queenslanders, we are re-opening for guests from Sunday 7th June. We look forward to welcoming you to our home "Wanulla" - in time to enjoy the last of the autumn colours and enjoy our open fire in the lounge.
13.01.2022 During these upsetting & worrying times, it is nice to share some good news with our B&B friends. Last Monday, after a 3 month delay, we received building approval from the council and the concreter's have begun work and are hoping to lay the slab on Friday. Time frame from our builder for completion is 5 months from when the slab goes down. In the meantime, we will continue to welcome guests back to "Wanulla" once the travel bans are lifted and you feel happy to move about again. We have just had our formal lounge, dining room & main hallway repainted and now we are intending to replace the wood on the back deck, since we have plenty of free time. In the meantime we are enjoying our beautiful garden, especially the roses from the front veranda. Stay well everyone.
13.01.2022 The most magic day here in Toowoomba. Hard to believe that it is winter.
12.01.2022 To all our B&B guests/friends - enjoy Christmas Day with your families & friends. 7 years since we started the B&B - some Christmases we have entertained guests who have stayed with us which has been nice. Enjoy Christmas Day.
12.01.2022 We visited our friend Shirley's garden yesterday. She has entered her back garden in the country section. Marvelous what she has achieved given the adverse conditions, lack of water & wallabies & possums helping themselves as well. Many of you will know of Shirley through her melting moments & other afternoon tea goodies, her poppies and the roses that she has shared with us.
10.01.2022 After sharing breakfast together on the front veranda, yesterday we said goodbye to Tom Stodulka our very last guest here at B&B Wanulla. What a journey it has been. We welcomed our first guests on the 1st September 2012 - a wedding night. Since then, we have had the opportunity of sharing our home with many guests and during the process have made some great new friends. We will miss the interaction with our guests but now it is time to start a new chapter in our lives. Tom... first stayed with us on the 19th Feb 2015. At the time Steve was in the UK so I was responsible for cooking Tom's breakfast - not the best scrambled eggs served! In the intervening years following the first visit, Tom has become a very special and caring friend to us and "Wanulla" has featured in both his poetry books "Storm Clouds and Silver Linings - my Journey" and his new book "Life is a Dance". To all our guests - thank you for enjoying our home "Wanulla" with us and enriching our lives.
09.01.2022 How lucky are we? Not only have we made marvellous friends from doing the B&B in our home, we have been given some lovely gifts as well - especially beautiful linen and a handmade quilt. Used a hand stitched tablecloth on Tuesday evening when entertaining a friend for his birthday.
08.01.2022 Our friend Tom Stodulka stayed with us last week & penned this new poem "It's winter" before breakfast. Tom has already had a poetry book published called "Storm Clouds & Silver Linings" which includes 2 poems written during stays at "B&B Wanulla". Poem Wanulla-It’s Winter by Tom Stodulka 6 June 2019 ‘Tis only ever so early, Wanulla awakes.... Not able to sleep, awake now and ready to prepare for the new day. The birds too are having their say. A freezing cold wind adds chill to the morn. First light already passed and beyond the dawn. The roses still in bloom. Though not for long after much pleasure given, Of sweet smells and a sense of heaven. Soon a mere memory of summer and autumn. Such hot and humid days, tempered by the rains of a late wet season. Too often the weather shows no rhyme nor reason. Patchy and confusing how parts of our vast land miss out completely, And others enjoy downpours aplenty, getting rain almost weekly. Lake Eyre is filling and the Murray Darling so empty. Hopefully some winter rains, To fill the drains and give the country much needed liquid gains. Already the first frost, Too often at the farmers’ great cost. A tough and harsh gig and some even feeling so lost, A westerly chill, the leaves in their final descent. Though a special garden all around, With cosmos, petunias, alyssum and salvias still abound. The camellias and bougainvilleas. All giving colour to the naturally evergreen eucalypts and grevilleas. Like life, not always colourful but more subdued. The seasons cannot wait, like time and tide, Sometimes so hard to abide. Tom is not only a poet but works as a mediator & 2 weeks ago, he was announced as Australian Mediator of the Year - many congratulations. We look forward to welcoming Tom back tomorrow night for another stay with us.
07.01.2022 Done by the daughter of lovely guests who have stayed with us over the years. We bought some great cards last year before Christmas. Very Quirky & different.
07.01.2022 A lovely visit to the Toowoomba Rose Show today (also open tomorrow). Interesting to see a beautiful vase of Granada roses - our symbol for the B&B & also we have one growing in our garden.
06.01.2022 Arrived home from Sydney this morning to find such a difference to our front view. The last of the conifer trees (from the next door flats) were removed on Thursday. Here's hoping now that our camilla's might start growing. They were planted 3 years ago to try to form a hedge and are still only about 40 cms high.
06.01.2022 A very enjoyable time over the last 10 days as we have caught up with so many of our B&B friends. A stay overnight last week by Julie before she attended the Leafmore Winter Garden School (which she said was very good). Last weekend, we had friends Prue and George stay as they needed to travel up to the area for family reasons. Wednesday saw a quick visit from Ron & Annelle (from Stanthorpe) and yesterday we met John & Susan at Spicers Hidden Vale for an enjoyable lunch. We are so fortunate to have made so many friends during the time we operated "B&B Wanulla"
05.01.2022 First day of Spring and our garden is looking amazing. Poppies in B&B vases and our first rose about to bloom. What a start to the new season.
05.01.2022 Ready for Spring and the Carnival of Flowers. Deluxe B&B bedroom repainted, delivery of poppies from our friend Shirley Cronk when she comes to town, our wisteria already coming into flower and the front garden looking a picture.
03.01.2022 A late post but we had our first B&B guests stay at "B&B Wanulla" on the 1st Sept 2012. 8 years later, we have welcomed so many guests to our home and made some lovely friends in the process. Our first guests stayed for their wedding night - what a lovely way to start. This photo was taken on the front veranda after breakfast on the Sunday morning.
03.01.2022 As many of you know, we are winding down "B&B Wanulla". During the last 7 years, we have enjoyed sharing our home with others and during the process - have met many interesting guests and made many new friends. We will still be operating the B&B until mid year if any of you would like to return for a last visit at "Wanulla". Thank you all for your support & we would like to wish you a Happy and enjoyable 2020.
02.01.2022 Even the canaries get to enjoy an Easter treat.
01.01.2022 Third year that Ron & Annelle from Stanthorpe have celebrated Ron's birthday at "B&B Wanulla". It was very special as this year, their daughter & 2 grandchildren were here to join the celebrations.
