08.01.2022 Our body is constantly trying to achieve balance by maintaining homeostasis. Various activities tax the body, requiring it to use energy to facilitate recovery. If the things you do throughout your day fall under the list of activities that tax the body, more so than those that help it recover. It makes it more likely for your body to fall susceptible to disease. The best approach is to increase the activities that aid the body to recover. Some examples are below: (Things tha...t aid recovery:(try do more of these) Getting enough sleep (at least 7-8 hours nightly) Stretching and doing restorative mobility work for your muscles and joints e.g. light yoga, hanging from a pull-up bar, face pulls, going for walk after meals etc.) Staying hydrated (roughly 3.7 litres for men and 2.7 litres for women) Eating enough fruit and vegetables ( minimum 2 servings of fruit and 3 servings of veg) Hot and cold contrast showers Consistently eating enough omega 3’s to reduce inflammation (linseeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, kale, EPA/DHA supplement Meditating Breathing exercises Spending time in nature Getting a massage (Things that tax the body : (try do less of these) Smoking Drinking alcohol Exercise Not eating enough fresh fruits and veg Not staying hydrated Continuous bouts of stress Getting a bacterial, fungal or viral infection Long exposure to extreme cold or heat Not getting enough sleep Frequently eating highly processed ‘fast foods’, more than once weekly Excessive exposure to detrimental chemicals or environmental pollutants (heavy metals, ammonia, petrochemicals, mould etc.) If you want to understand this balance better, want more suggestions or have any questions feel free to comment or send through an email : [email protected]

01.01.2022 Are you eating enough veg? We here it time and time again, you have to eat your vegetables, but people rarely go into the detail of why. See unlike other more carnivorous mammals such as our feline friends , humans cannot create their own vitamin C, we have to get it from our diet. ... This is where fruits and veggies come in. Vegetables are vital sources of nutrients such as vitamin C, which can only be found in plant foods, and is vital for neutralising oxidative stress in the body, synthesising collagen, which all of our joints and connective tissues comprise of, and the neurotransmitter noradrenaline/norepinephrine which helps us to stay alert and gives us an energetic mood. Vitamin C is but one of a long list of nutrients that are packed into vegetables, e.g folate , vitamin K, B group vitamins. Potassium, Magnesium, Iron, and list goes on..... If we don't eat enough vegetables our bodies and minds cannot function at their full capacity. The bonus being to all of this is that vegetables contain far less calories than other food types and have significantly more nutrients. So they'll help you lose weight!, and make you feel better! So make sure that most of your dinner plate tonight is made up of vegetables #healthyfood #nutritioncoaching #nutritionalmedicine #nutritional #nutrition #nutrients #junkfood #feelbetter #lookbetter #vegetables #veg #veggies #vegetarian #vegan #carnivore
