09.01.2022 Thin Soles / Sore on Gravel / Hard to Fit in Boots? If your horse has any or all of those issues, you definitely want to do something to make them more comfor...table. If they are not landing comfortably on the ground, their hoof rehab process WILL stall. If they have thin soles and/or are sore on gravel, it's very important to look at their diet. But while you're waiting for better nutrition to kick in, your horse still has to stand around on their feet all day. I have been experimenting with Hoof Armor -- http://www.hoofarmor.com. It is easy enough to apply (with a little prep work) that I recommend owners buy a starter kit + do it on their own. Or do one practice round with your hoofcare provider first. Hoof Armor provides an extra sole callous. It does not replace quality nutrition, a healthy sole, and is not a stand in for boots BUT it can be another resource to keep your horse comfortable on varying terrain.
