05.01.2022 WHICH BIN FOR FOOD SCRAPS? Knowing what to put in which bin can be confusing! The waste system is not the same for all Councils across the state and this means that state-wide marketing can lead to some cross contamination occurring.... For example, food scraps - our Council region does not take food scraps in our Green Bins as they contaminate the green waste material. This means that the material cannot become garden mulch and instead adds to expensive landfill. Whilst we are working towards a system that also accepts food waste, we ask that you continue to look at other options to reduce your food waste and consider non-landfill options before adding them to your red bin as a final option. For more information on green waste and food scraps, please see our website https://www.berribarmera.sa.gov.au///food-scraps-which-bin
