24.01.2022 At Christmas we celebrate Jesus being born to be the Prince of Peace. Jesus brings peace between humanity and God. As a result, followers of Jesus should be marked be peace in different relationships. What conflict could you bring peace to, this Christmas?
24.01.2022 As our Essential Services series comes to a close, we are so happy to present our art comp winner, Vincent Chan! He describes his piece: "The fellowship is represented by the flying V, which allows birds to fly for far longer distances than they can individually. Likewise, we carry each other's burdens as the Church. As a church we learn and grow together, even when mistakes are made. Just as the wayward birds in the rear are able to rejoin the formation. God rays are visible... only when light is scattered from it's path, mostly visible during fog or rain. The birds in the drawing are flying away from the darkness and towards the light. Life is hard, but even in the darkest of times the hope we have in Jesus is able to penetrate through even the thickest storm. Jesus strengthen us and gives us peace, joy and courage as we entrust our lives to Him." See more
23.01.2022 5 days to Freedom Sunday Read: Ecclesiastes 4:1; Psalm 89:14 In a world where profits often come at the expense of human dignity, injustice is a particular type of sin - a sin of violence and oppression. When we think of Gods character, we might not think of his heart for justice first. But doing the work of justice is an intrinsic part of Gods call to Christians.
23.01.2022 Pastor Samuel reminded us that when we receive God's calling but find it hard to fulfill, we can confide our concerns to Him, listen for his guidance, and get up to go with faith. In the same way, we can attend to those also in adversity, by walking with them and being Christ to them.
22.01.2022 Do you daydream? Unwittingly, allowing our minds to drift from our focus. Guest speaker, Han Hong, reminded us of the danger of spiritual daydreaming away from Jesus. "We must therefore pay even more attention to what we have heard, so that we will not drift away." (Hebrews 2:1) How might you refocus your attention to Jesus? #daydream #drift #focus #hebrews #walkwithjesus
21.01.2022 Postponed. We had hoped to meet in person for church on 2nd August, but we are postponing. The 'hotspots' of the 3 covid cases are in proximity of where many of our members live their lives. It might be another week before we have a fuller picture of how it has spread. So we put aside our preference of seeing each other, for the sake of our wider community to reduce the risk of transmission. Join our services on Facebook from 11am every Sunday. Visit us at facebook.com/bcacem... For more info about the new cases follow this link https://www.health.qld.gov.au//public-health-alert-three-n
21.01.2022 The storms of life can be withstood through building on the rock of Jesus People want certain things to be their foundations but they were never made for that purpose. When we treat them like that, like foundations, they will crush under the weight of our expectations. Who is with you in the storm? Who can be as reliable, present and loving as Jesus? Come, build your foundations on Jesus. He is a reliable, strong foundation in the storm.
19.01.2022 Hope is not dependent on the condition of the hoper, their resilience, the fervency of their hope or their strength. Hope is relational - we can borrow hope Through Jesus we have both agency (the Holy Spirit) and pathways (the sovereign will of God). Hope is found in the unexpected figure of Jesus
17.01.2022 "Words are powerful, but a demonstration is even more powerful...you are the demonstration....of the gospel" Please pray for Yakim & Grace and the people they minister to and as they live holy lives in their region. Let's also pray for ourselves as do the same here in Brisbane as we get the gospel to the ends of the earth.
15.01.2022 Kneel to Stand. As we look around the world at Beirut and closer to home, Victoria, you may feel unsettled at the state of chaos and suffering in the world. As people of faith, we kneel to stand. Let's pray together for the world and mourn with those who mourn. Our only hope is Christ.... Do you know we have bi weekly prayer meetings? Join us on Mondays and Fridays from 9:30-9:45pm to pray as a community.

15.01.2022 Xiang, Han Chinese in China Population: 39,520,000 Largest Religion: Ethnic religions (43%) Christian and Evangelical: Ethnic religions (43%)... Introduction: Originating from the southern province of Hunan, the Xiang are traditionally acknowledged as the most stubborn and proud of all Chinese people. Xiang is distinct subdivision of the Chinese language. What are their beliefs: There has been an upsurge lately in religious interest in Hunan, as people seek to fill their spiritual void in their hearts. This has resulted in an influx of pilgrims arriving to worship the three ‘gods’ of Communist China Chairman Mao, Zhou Enlai, and Zhu De. What are their needs: The pride of the Xiang has made them the most unreached of all Han Chinese people. Long after the rest of the empire was open to missionary activity, Hunan kept its gates firmly closed against the foreigner. Because of internal strife, the Hunan church has been described as a disaster area. Prayer: - Pray for the spiritual void within the hearts of the people to be filled with the one and only satisfier in Jesus Christ. - Pray for Jesus’s teachings to take deep root in the culture and expose all false religions - Pray for continued Church growth and pure biblical teaching amid ongoing persecution

15.01.2022 Christmas is one month away and we can safely declare it Christmas season! Christmas marks the arrival of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Advent (Latin for 'coming') is an ancient Christian tradition of celebrating Jesus's coming into our world. We spend the 4 Sundays before Christmas to prepare. You are welcome to join us every Sunday at 11am online or in person, especially during Advent. We'll be reflecting on how Jesus's Advent brings: - Hope (29th Nov) - Peace (6th Dec)... - Joy (13th Dec) - Love (20th Dec) #advent #christmas #hopepeacejoylove #christmasseason #christisborn
12.01.2022 3 days to Freedom Sunday Slavery hits closer to home than we realise. Not only do we live in a region with the highest number of people in slavery, but Australians are among those fuelling the demand for cybersex trafficking of children (ie. the live streaming of sexual abuse of children). In fact, Australians are the third highest purchasers of this abuse according to the recent Global OSEC report. Learn more at https://ijm.org.au/our-work/cybersex-trafficking/
11.01.2022 We hope you were challenged and inspired to consider joining the efforts to fight against slavery in Jesus's name. If you'd like to donate either to the urgent needs fund or become a Freedom Partner, we encourage you to check out https://ijm.org.au/fs20/
10.01.2022 Last Sunday's Sermon (30/9) Let us honour our origins and at the same time move outward toward God's heavenly vision for us step by step as we welcome, honour and create meaningful relationships with those who are different to us.
09.01.2022 Next Sunday on 20 September well be joining churches all over the world for Freedom Sunday, a day dedicated to learning about modern-day slavery and finding out how we can help send rescue to the 40 million children, women and men trapped in bondage. Look out for posts this week exploring what International Justice Mission (IJM) are doing to end slavery, and what it means for us personally to answer the biblical call for justice. 08.01.2022 Koreans in North Korea Population: 25,208,000 Largest Religions: Non-religious (69%) % of Christian and Evangelical: 1.6% and 1.56%... Introduction: The Koreans of North Korea is highly controlled by the communist party, with very little freedom in relation to press, religion and speech. For example, all radio and television broadcasts are strictly controlled by the government, allowing current ‘outsider’ news to be easily withheld or even altered to the population, limiting their access to the rest of the world. Most forms of entertainment are supported and controlled by the government, with anything that conflicts with Communist principles being forbidden. Education is mandatory in early ages, but further study requires Communist Party approval after 10 What are their beliefs: A mixture of Confucian thought, Buddhism and Shamanism (belief in unseen world of gods, demons, ancestral spirits) were previously dominant among the north Koreans. 1945 saw these regions repressed, with former North Korean ruler Kim il Sung being presented as omniscient and omnipresent and was worshipped by the people. North Koreans believe that deceased family members remain within the family circle spiritually, and as a result, a male heir is significant to carry on the family line. What are their needs: Politically, North Korea is one of the most highly controlled societies in the world. The government has officially decided against Christianity and the Gospel for the entire nation. The people of North Korea are in desperate need of political and spiritual freedom. Poverty is also a significant problem for many areas in North Korea due to food shortage. Prayer: -Pray that the laws in North Korea in relation to preaching the Gospel will be changed -Pray for receptive hearts and openness to Christianity amongst the people -Ask God to protect, strengthen and encourage the small population of North Korean Christians and for opportunities to share the Gospel with their own people -Pray for the doors of North Korea to be opened to Christian missionaries

07.01.2022 As a church collective, we are responsible for each other. To be keeping our leaders accountable, as we serve and carry each other's burdens. 07.01.2022 "You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:16 There are those who think they have everything, and the light of Christ ought to shine in and reveal their need of Christ. There are those who have plenty of needs, and as the church we can be the light in supporting their work. What relationships or people do you see around you that God is using you and our church community to be the light of the world?
07.01.2022 "First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good, and it pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth." (1 Tim 2:1-4) If you were at the AGM you may have heard about our new church-wide prayer focus for the next six months. We will be... taking on the challenge of praying for Least Reached People groups across the world as part of this year's Mission Focus. Using resources from the Joshua Project, prayer points will be released on a regular basis beginning from October which can be prayed at ESS, SG, prayer meetings or for personal prayer. Join us
06.01.2022 Keep tuning in for our future weeks as we continue our 'Essential Services' series!
05.01.2022 We conclude our Advent series reflecting on 1 John 4:7-12. The apostle John echoes Jesus's command to "love one another". Christians are called to love because God is love, and has practically demonstrated his love by sending us Jesus. In what ways can you demonstrate the love of God this Christmas?
05.01.2022 Hello all, unfortunately we will not have in-person service tomorrow (23rd Aug) as planned. We will be live streaming via Facebook only. Please continue to practise good hygiene and pray for each other to trust God and remain in confident faith

04.01.2022 The 36 million Java Pesisir Lor live primarily on the north coast of Central Java, Indonesia. They dwell on lush, gentle mountain slopes and in fertile valleys where they make a living by farming and fishing. However, manufacturing is increasing in the cities, providing much needed economic growth. More and more young people are moving there to find work. Underneath the distinctive red tiles of their homes are a people who value family honor and respect for elders. They are k...nown as polite yet direct people, and while averse to showing emotion, they will share their opinions freely. The Java Pesisir Lor are 97% Sunni Muslim and are heavily influenced by Folk Islamic practices. Sacred objects, times, people, and places are important and are considered powerful. They make regular pilgrimages to some of the graves of the nine saints of Javanese Islam to seek blessing and receive answers to prayers. Plenty of Christian resources are available in Javanese: the Bible, the Jesus Film, radio broadcasts, websites, gospel recordings, and gospel films. Some Indonesian Muslims come to faith when they see the superiority of Jesus in the Quran. They also see him in dreams and visions. Sadly, however, most people still have very little opportunity to hear, understand, and respond to the gospel. When they do, followers of Christ from Muslim backgrounds are persecuted in the form of verbal attacks and social isolation from their families and community. Pray for religious leaders and shamans to become followers of Jesus. Pray for the Body of Christ to arise to meet urgent physical and spiritual needs. Pray for the righteousness of Christ to set people free from widespread sexual sin. For more, head to: https://prayercast.com/java-pesisir-lor.html
04.01.2022 This week we had President of the C&MA Australia address us on the Faith Promise as part of our Mission Awareness Weekend. -- The Grace of Giving Giving, like faith and love, is a gift of God's grace. The apostle Paul exhorts us to excel in the grace of giving. The Scriptures guide us in understanding the blessings that giving can produce in our lives.... Giving pleases God, an acceptable act of worship (Phil 4:18) Giving increases faith in God (Phil 4:11-13) Giving reduces money's power, preventing harmful desires (1 Tim 6:6-10) Giving reminds us we are stewards, not owners, of all that God gives (Ps 24:1) Giving provides eternal riches, treasures in heaven (Matt 6:19, 20; Lk 6:38) Your Faith Promise for the Great Commission Fund supports: - our international workers overseas, - our local mission workers, - our mission partnerships, - new church plants, - training of new workers through AIM, - directors and administrative support team at the National Office
03.01.2022 Bad hypocrisy pretends we are living up to standard. Jesus calls Christians to 'healthy' hypocrisy that strives for and can admit failing to live up to standard. The book of Titus reminds us that Jesus saves broken people. The rest of our life is a renovation project of the soul. God gives us the expert tradesman, the Holy Spirit, to help us renovate, and slowly work towards Jesus' standard
03.01.2022 "A Christian can no more sanctify himself than he can save himself." The process of change stinks. But the end product is beautiful. We may want to bail because its too hard. It is impossible to change ourselves. We need something external to come into us to transform us into that Bride. Jesus rescues, the Holy Spirit reveals and helps. Would you like to walk in community as you grow in maturity? Use our connect card (http://tiny.cc/BCACconnect)and let us prepare as the Bride together.
02.01.2022 Population: 31,156,000 Buddhism: 94.95% 0.35% Christian Introduction... The Burmese are the political, economic and religious leaders of Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. The Burmese have mixed Buddhist beliefs with animistic beliefs. Their animistic beliefs center around inherently evil spirits called nats. The Burmese spend their lives trying to appease the nats. Burmese homes often have altars for the spirits, as well as a statue of Buddha. Farmers may spend more in a year on their religion than on education, health and clothing for their families. Ministry Obstacles Following Christ for the Burmese may be threatening, risking attacks from evil spirits. They need spiritual protection and discernment. Outreach Ideas Pray for God's blessing on the leaders in the Burmese people group, along with their families, and for their communities to welcome and enjoy God's provision. Pray for the Followers of Christ Please pray for the few followers of Christ among the Burmese, that they will live holy lives, being zealous to grow into the image of Christ. Pray they will be kind and compassionate to one another and to their neighbors, drawing them to the Savior. Pray for the Entire People Group Pray for peace tempered by justice in Myanmar and for the Burmese people to hunger to know forgiveness of sin and power for living, found only in the person and work of Christ. Pray for a disciple making movement among the Burmese this decade.
02.01.2022 120,880,000 Buddhism (69.80%) 1.20% & 0.3% Introduction: The Japanese are one of the most homogenous people groups in the world racially, culturally and ethnically. Their identity is anchored deeply in their... biological heritage, birthplace in Japan, a shared culture and a common language. What are their beliefs: Shintoism is the native religion of Japan, a belief rooted in the idea that non-living objects have spirits known as ‘kami’. Buddhism was introduced in the sixth century, and today, most Japanese identify as both Shintoist and Buddhist. Their traditions in these religions have contributed to common religious principles, such as ancestor worship, a belief in religious continuity of the family, a close tie between the nation and religion, a free exchange of ideas among religious systems, and religious practices cantered around the use of medication, amulets and purification. What are their needs: Many Japanese are indifferent to and sceptical of established religion. To the outsider, they appear to have few needs, but they have become obsessed with materialistic pleasures, careers and possessions. Prayer: Pray that Christian businessmen will have open doors to share the Gospel with the Japanese Pray for the Holy Spirit to soften the hearts of the Japanese towards Christianity so they will be receptive to the Gospel Pray for the Japanese Christians to have opportunities to share the love of Jesus with their families and friends Pray the Lord to raise up strong local churches among the Japanese.

01.01.2022 We believe there are 5 keys to spiritual health: worship, community, spiritual growth, service, and outreach. Our Maturity team (spiritual growth) recently held a bingo challenge to kickstart continued growth. The 3 winners shared a highlight from completing their challenges. Activities included: - Wake up 30 min earlier to read the Bible - Try listening to a Christian podcast... - Finish a Christian book that you started but never finished Why not try one of these this week?
01.01.2022 The apostle Paul commends Christians to find common ground between Jesus and the rest of the world. This is a window into the good news Jesus offers. Titus 2 is an example of family values appreciated by both Ancient Greeks and the sound teaching of Jesus.
