22.01.2022 One of the main goals of our School Leaver's Employment Supports (SLES) program is to provide participants with hands-on experiences in work type environments. In 2020 we have had to be a bit more creative with how we support participants to get the most out of their supports. This year we have also been super lucky to have Sheldon come on board to do maintenance at the centre and various different projects at the centre, through Working for Victoria. This week Sheldon has supported our SLES participants to build Garden Trellis frames for the BCAL Garden Project. The frames will make it easier for BCAL Garden Project to grow produce that requires staking and has provided a great opportunity for our participant to get some hands-on work experience.

Today our Introduction to Hospitality students baked focaccias from scratch and set up a pop-up cafe! One of our students even mentioned that because of the training she had done over the last few weeks, she had the courage to apply for a new job! - The greatest thing, she got it! ...
