22.01.2022 This Sunday: Water, Bread and Rest (Exodus 15:22-17:7) The gift of daily bread to the hungry Israelites was the LORD training them to see how the Sabbath will be at the heart of the law He will lay down for them at Sinai. A person who knows that God is the Lord their God who has rescued them from slavery; who has not other gods before Him; who doesn’t make an image and bow down to it, not presuming to be able to define the way they worship; and who desires to honour His name ...in all that they do - that person will be a person who is already, in their hearts, living in the sabbath rest of God. And so it will be a delight to express that in the external obedience to the command to observe the Sabbath Day and keep it holy. And that person, being in the Sabbath rest of God, will be in a place where loving their neighbour as themselves will flow out of that freedom they have in knowing the Lord is their God; the commands of God will not be tiresome or a burden, kept out of fear or obligation, but it will be a joy to give of their life in the interest of serving and loving others." 22.01.2022 This Sunday: The Destruction of the Temple (Matthew 24:1-51) "Brothers and sisters, let us hear Jesus words. Do not be led astray by end-time speculation, and do not fear what may happen in this life, because Jesus will come, and it will be at the time appointed by the Father - no earlier, no later. There will be no preemptive signs, so don't be distracted from the work of the Gospel by trying to identify them. Just as he was patient with the generation who first saw Jesus, ...so He is displaying His great patience today, giving every opportunity for people to turn to him in repentance and faith; the sign of this patience is that he has waited nearly 2000 years so that you too may be included in those who believe and are saved. Jesus has not returned yet because the Father set His love on you and chose you before the foundation of the world. Let the certainty of this fill you with hope; the certainty that it will come to pass because He who promised is faithful. And let this hope spur you on to love and good deeds, and to being bold in proclaiming the word of life, the Gospel of the risen Jesus, to those around you." See more

21.01.2022 This is My Son, Listen to Him! Forgive us our debts... 'Do not Judge' Matthew 7:1-12

21.01.2022 A 'taster' for today's sermon (about to be posted)

20.01.2022 This Sunday: Exodus 1. The Lord makes sure the identity of the Pharaohs of the Exodus fade into obscurity; but he records for perpetuity the names of Shiphrah and Puah, two humble midwives who feared Him. The LORD lifts up the humble; he casts the wicked to the ground. (Psalm 147:6)

19.01.2022 All praise to our redeeming Lord, Who joins us by His grace, And bids us, each to each restored, Together seek His face.... He bids us build each other up; And, gathered into one, To our high callings glorious hope, We hand in hand go on. The gift which He on one bestows, We all delight to prove; The grace through every vessel flows, In purest streams of love. We all partake the joy of one; The common peace we feel; A peace to worldly minds unknown, A joy unspeakable. And if our fellowship below In Christ yet be so sweet, What height of rapture shall we know, When round His throne we meet! (Charles Wesley)

18.01.2022 Our Service live-streaming is not going according to expectations - bad audio, jumpy video, (fortunately, no funny filters...). We'll try one more Sunday wth a different approach, then if that doesn't work, the service will be videos and posted here on Sunday afternoon. Thanks for your patience...

15.01.2022 This is My Son: Listen to Him! Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: A House Built on the Rock (Matthew 7:13-29)

15.01.2022 We will be resuming Sunday services on July 12, at the new time of 11:30am. 157 Portrush Rd. Maylands Our first service with be a combined (English + Mandarin congregations) & all age service.... Some Christians try to go to heaven alone, in solitude. But believers are not compared to bears or lions or other animals that wander alone. Those who belong to Christ are sheep in this respect, that they love to get together. Sheep go in flocks, and so do Gods people." ~ Charles Spurgeon

14.01.2022 This Sunday: Psalm 150 For the last year and a half we have been journeying through the Psalms every Sunday morning in the public reading of Scripture. When we come to the end of the Psalter, we see that ultimately the only reason we need to worship God, is God himself.

14.01.2022 What are you waiting for? (1 Peter 3-13)

11.01.2022 This Sunday: Waiting for Jesus' return (Matthew 25) Jesus uses the imagery of the 10 bridesmaids not only because he is the bridegroom coming for his bride, the church; but also because in the Bible Wisdom and Foolishness are 'personified' as women who will either lead you into life and truth, or into death and destruction. Wisdom is not about being clever, but about fearing the Lord, and having regard for His people. Foolishness is to live for yourself, thinking that you will never have to face the Judge. Are you ready for Jesus' appearing?

11.01.2022 The Olivet Discourse, part 2 Matthew 25:1-46

09.01.2022 This Sunday: Matthew 13:44-52 - The Parables of the Seeker. We are not the man or the merchant who find the Kingdom of Heaven, and sells all they have to buy it. How could we think we would have enough capital in ourselves to purchase the Kingdom of God??... - The man/merchant is Christ. - We are the lost treasure/pearl. - Christ gives all he has in order to purchase us. Treasure lost in a field is just stones and metal; a pearl is just calcium carbonate. We are just unclean dust. Until Christ bestows value on us by paying with his precious blood to make us children of his Father. See what great love with which he has loved us!

09.01.2022 The disciples were looking forward to one cataclysmic event that would 'restore the kingdom to Israel' and usher in the final, eternal age. However, Jesus showed that the plan was to take the kingdom from Israel and give it to the church; and that there would be two cataclysmic events, one at each end of the church age, before the renewal of the heavens and earth at the final judgement. We live today in the overlap of the ages, between the destruction of the Temple in 70AD (Matthew 24) and the return of Jesus (Matthew 25). This is the time of God's great patience, as generation after generation He calls into the kingdom those whom he has foreknown since before the foundation of the world.

01.01.2022 This Sunday: Forgiven and Forgiving (Matthew 18:14-35) If we actually put Jesus teaching here into practice, most if not all of church problems would be avoided! - an Elder.
