24.01.2022 Citizenship ceremony supported by Lions Club of Brisbane Chinese. We were honoured to have the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner to be the presiding officer for our new citizens. We also have Peter Russo MP, Inspector Mark Stewart, Cr Kim Marx, and our Lady Mayoress Nina Schrinner for the special guests of the ceremony. Thank you very much Cr Kim Marx for hosting such important event to our new citizens on Australia Day. Well done all BC Lions volunteers and we have done a fantastic job today again!



23.01.2022 Thank you very much for taking part in this lifestyle change event to help prevent diabetes. Participants started from the Queensland Museum, continued with South Brisbane Herit-age Trail, walked back to the Wheel of Brisbane. This was a 5.62 km walk per person in South Brisbane. Total distance walked by participants was 73.06 km. Lions on site: Laurita Chu, Ge Ge, Jo Chyi, Daniel Wong, Kenny Ma, Yuki Chai Hoe, Daria Jiang, Xiaying Qi, Flora Fang Non-Lions participants: John Davis, Yuepeng Zheng, Luyan Yu, Erica Kim

23.01.2022 At Bridge to Brisbane 2019, our big-hearted LCBC running team enjoyed the course that took in some of Brisbanes most iconic landmarks including running over the Story Bridge and finishing at the beautiful South Bank Parklands. Most importantly, we raised funds for a charity of our choices!

17.01.2022 On behalf of Lions Club of Brisbane Chinese, thank you to all who attended the LCBC November 2019 Monthly Meeting at Yum Cha Cuisine Garden City. Evening highlights included an opening speech from Lion Kenny Ma, President of LCBC 2019-2020 and a keynote presentation by Mr Norm McGillivray, Founder of Beddown, a charity organisation that provides pop-up accommodation solutions for Australia's most vulnerable. On behalf of Lions Club of Brisbane Chinese, Lion Kenny Ma donated... A$500 to the Beddown to support the most vulnerable to get a good nights rest. A "Lions Lap the Map for Diabetes" post-event presentation was delivered by Lion Ge Ge. The total distance walked by Lions and non-Lions participants was 73.06 kms. Congratulations, Lion Yuki Hoe and Lion Xiaying Qi, on being awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for the LCBC Lap the Map for Diabetes. 15.01.2022 It is important for diabetes to be understood by the whole community, not just those affected by diabetes. On November 17th, donate a gold coin and walk 5km with an amazing team of big-hearted Lions to raise awareness of diabetes as well as to raise funds for World Diabetes Day. All funds raised will go towards prevention, awareness and research in the fight against diabetes. Participants will enjoy the course that takes in some of South Brisbanes historical landmarks incl...uding winding your way through the Epicurious Garden and finishing at the Queensland Maritime Museum, while supporting an even greater cause. Each participant will receive a dietitian-prepared handout, a simple Certificate of Achievement on completion and a complimentary Diabetes Type 2 Self Assessment Test. Date and Time o 9.30 am for 9.40 start, finish at 11.00 am o Sunday, 17th November 2019 Start Point o State Library of Queensland Participants o Everyone can participate, with entry being a Gold Coin donation o Registration required before commencement to receive a simple Certificate of Achievement on completion o A dietitian-prepared handout and a complimentary Diabetes Type 2 Self Assessment Test (AusDrisk) will be offered to each participant Walking trail Start from the Wheel of Brisbane, continue with South Brisbane Heritage Trail (from heritage no.22 to no.1), walk back to the starting point. This is a 5 km walk in South Brisbane. The walk has a total ascent of 20.17 m and has a maximum elevation of 21.58 m. About South Brisbane Heritage Trail The South Brisbane Heritage Trail highlights important historical sites, colourful stories and infamous events that shaped South Brisbane's history. There are 22 points of interest along the Secrets of South Brisbane Heritage Trail. The walk's highlights include: o the rivalry between the south and north sides of the river in the nineteenth century o South Brisbane's busy wharves o 'Pearl' ferry disaster of 1896 o Trocadero Dansant and vaudeville theatrics at the Cremorne o US military presence on the south side of the river during World War II o Brisbane's 'coming of age' with World Expo '88 Vlog World Diabetes Day (WDD) is a day to raise awareness about diabetes its causes, prevention and the devastating effects it has on people and healthcare systems worldwide. Knowing diabetes risk is an essential part in disease prevention. Lions Club of Brisbane Chineses first vlog will be filmed during the event to spread diabetes awareness. The Lions family and friends will be able to learn more about diabetes, healthy living and received health information at the Lap the Map for Diabetes.

12.01.2022 On behalf of Lions Club of Brisbane Chinese (LCBC), thank you to all who attended our monthly meeting on 12 Aug 2019. Evening highlights included: An opening speech by Lion Kenny Ma, President of the LCBC 2019-2020.... Welcome and thank you the District Governor Lion David Greenup for such a motivational speech. Guest speaker Dr Matthew Young, Co-Founder and Co-Director of Hepatitis C Kombi Clinic and Medical Director of Medeco Inala Medical Centre. Dr Young has been a doctor for 30 years, working as a GP and Medical Director at Medical Inala since 2005. He is a local boy,having graduated from the University of Queensland medical school in 1989. Medeco Inala was named the General Practice of the Year in 2018 by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP). Based in Brisbanes southwest, the practice services a suburb known for economic hardship, substance abuse, violence and crime, with one of the highest rates of hepatitis C in the country. The clinic has launched a weekly mobile hepatitis C service from the back of a VW Kombi, with two doctors, a nurse, and a phlebologist. About Hepatitis C Kombi Clinic @HepCKombi The Kombi Clinic Project, developed by Hepatitis Queensland and operated in partnership with Dr Matt Young and Dr Joss OLoan from Medeco Medical Centre, Inala, will now support more people living with Hepatitis C thanks to a grant provided by Metro South Health (MSH) and Brisbane South PHN (BSPHN). As a clinic on wheels, the kombi van provides testing, treatment, referrals and education for hard to reach or otherwise disadvantaged members of the community who are at higher risk of contracting Hepatitis C.
