22.01.2022 It’s with great sadness that we share the news that 2018 Winner of the Jean Alexander OAM Award for Administrative Excellence, Lou Shehade, has sadly passed away. What a wonderful gentleman he was. Rest In Peace. Sending our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

21.01.2022 Congratulations to Denzel Nicholson (Snooker and Billiards) for being awarded the 2019 Jack Gunning Award for Special Recognition! Proudly sponsored by 2bs 95.1 FM and Western Advocate. Denzel regularly competes in local and national opens competitions and has been the NSW U18 State Champion in both Snooker and Billiards since 2013. Denzel was the Australian U18 Billiards Champion for 2019 He has represented Australia at various International Championships including the Tr...ans-Tasman Challenge in Hawks Bay New Zealand in February 2019 and the World U16s in Tyumen, Russia in August 2019. Denzel was named the Captain of the NSW Team for the Australian Junior Snooker and Billiards Championships which were held in January this year. See more

20.01.2022 Congratulations to the Bathurst Women’s Hockey Association Bathurst Hockey Tournament (Full state NSW Women’s Masters) on being awarded the 2019 Award for Organisational Excellence! Proudly sponsored by Bathurst Fire Protection An enormous year for the Bathurst Women’s Hockey who hosted the NSW Women’s full state hockey championships across four days from 25-28 July, coordinated locally by Sheree Richards, requiring 16 Bathurst Hockey Umpires, coordinated by Jillian Long. ... 113 teams travelled from all across NSW which required almost 700 games played over four days. Four of the seven Bathurst teams competed in their divisional Grand Finals with three Winning. The Bathurst Chamber of Commerce indicated that with the approximate 2000 people supporting the tournament, $2.5 million in revenue to the Bathurst economy with considerable media attention across local media plus a Mayoral Reception and Championship Dinner which was held for over 250 people.

20.01.2022 Congratulations to Mick Sloan for being awarded the 2019 Jean Alexander OAM Award for Administrative Excellence! Mick was awarded the Merit Award for Outstanding Service to AFL. This was awarded for 20 years’ service to the game, including being a premiership player with the Bathurst Eagles AFL Club including Captain and Coach; President of Bathurst Eagles; President, Committee Member and Umpire of AFL Central West; Coach of Northern Heat (Representative Development Squad) and numerous representative school teams including Western PSSA and CHS teams, while also being the Auskick Coordinator, Junior Coach, Senior Women’s Assistant Coach and Statistician with the Bathurst Giants AFL Club.

18.01.2022 Congratulations to the 2019 School Team of the Year, MacKillop College - Bathurst Senior Football (Soccer) Team! Proudly sponsored by the Edgell Jog Bathurst Committee. With numerous success on a smaller scale, MacKillop College Junior Football Team competed in the 2019 Western Sydney Wanderers Cup Finals in Blacktown. In the round robin competition, on both natural and synthetic playing surfaces, MacKillop College won all of their round robin games without conceding a goal.... This put them at the top of the competition to play 4th place East Hills in the semi-final, where they won 4-0. MacKillop then went on to be named the 2019 Western Sydney Wanderers Cup Champions. Dean is committed to continually improving his skills and abilities to provide the top level of training for his team. In 2019 he completed his level 3 world Rugby Union Coaching Qualification and AR4 Level 3 Coaching Accreditation. ... Dean coached the Central West Blue Bulls to an undefeated tour of Christchurch New Zealand; Won NSW Country Championship defeating last year’s Premiers and coached Bathurst Bulldogs Rugby 1st Grade to a minor Premiership where they then won the first Premiership in 9 years. Dean coached an impressive style of Rugby Union to achieve a 20:1 win:loss record in 2019.

08.01.2022 Congratulations to Chelsea Oldham for being presented the Refereeing/Umpiring Distinction (Junior) Award. Proudly sponsored by Steele+Co. Chelsea has been umpiring for Bathurst Netball Association for 5 years. In 2017 she was accredited with a National C badge and has since worked her way from officiating junior games and progressed to A grade in the senior competition. Chelsea gives her time to umpiring, playing and coaching new umpires. She was recognised for her cool and calm control of higher level games by Netball New South Wales at the State Senior Titles in July, and was previously awarded Junior Umpire of the Year.

07.01.2022 Congratulations to Nicholas Lander (Rugby League Group 10 Referees) for being presented the 2019 Refereeing/Umpiring Distinction (Senior) Award! Proudly sponsored by Steele+Co. Nick has been officiating Group 10 senior competitions for 11 years and has held his refereeing accreditation for 19 years. Nick was awarded Life membership for his ongoing work as the secretary of group 10 referees and presented as Group 10 Referee of the Year in 2013, 2014, 2018 and 2019. He was the 2019 Referee of Premier League all season, and of Final Series, Finals and Grand Final. Nick has been the provider of Referee Instructional Courses since 2008.

04.01.2022 SUPPORT FOR LOCAL SPORTING CLUBS & ASSOCIATIONS! A one-off grant of up to $1,000 will be provided to close to 12,500 local sporting clubs and associations across the State to assist clubs for when sport resumes on 1 July. Further information regarding eligibility requirements will be updated at the SportsNSW webpage in the coming weeks. ... Clubs and associations are not required to do anything further at this point in time. BDSRC will keep you updated when further details are announced.
