24.01.2022 The Christmas period is a time for celebration, filled with eating, drinking & gift giving! There are, however, many potential dangers for our pets associated with the holiday season. Below is a list of some common foods or items that can unfortunately cause harm to our pets if ingested Ham, crackling, leftovers (bones; fatty, mouldy or spoiled items), fruit cake/fruit mince pies, grapes, onions, garlic, chocolate, macadamia nuts, alcohol, christmas trees & decorations (ba...ubles, tinsel, string, lights, batteries, electrical cables) If you witness your pet ingest any of the above, or even if you’re not entirely sure they have, please phone us immediately We hope that you & your furry family members have a safe & happy holidays!

He has escaped around the area of Empire Bay drive, Bensville. If you spot him, please contact us on 43632222 or Jenny on 43694653. 19.01.2022 A day in the life of a patient . We know how stressful it can be to drop your pet off for surgery. Rest assured Beach and Bay Vet staff give your pet lots of love and cuddles during the day. Lexi recently spent the day with us while she was desexed. Her day started with her arrival, being weighed and the completion of some paperwork. Amanda, one of our registered nurses, gave her a full check up (with lots of pats!). Lexi rested comfortably in her padded bed. We were rea...dy to start surgery where she received oxygen before entering theatre. Once Lexi’s surgery was completed we ensured she received pain relief to keep her pain free and comfortable whilst resting waiting to go home. Beautiful Lexie was collected by her owner later the same afternoon. Thank you Lexi’s mum and dad for letting us share her day. She was a perfect patient. You can follow Lexie on Instagram #lexi_adventures20

10.01.2022 It’s going to be very hot this weekend -Please keep exercise to a minimum or not all. Walks, dog parks and beaches etc should be visited first thing in the morning or later in the evening when the temperature is not at its highest. -If at all possible, keep pets inside in the air conditioning or under fans. ... -Make sure there is lots of shade if your pets are outside with PLENTY of fresh, cool water. -Using aids such as cooling Matts to keep pets cool (even wet towels on the cool concrete) -Putting ice blocks in water bowls is also a great idea or making ice blocks for pets with their favourite food/treats in them. -NEVER leave your pet in the car, even if it is for just a minute. -Kids wading pools are great to help cool pets down as well as hoses/sprinklers if you do not have water restrictions in place. -For pocket pets that can’t be bought inside make sure there is plenty of fresh water for them and even try putting covered ice bricks inside hutches. Please look out for the signs of heat stroke - excessive panting - tiredness - staggering/collapse - sometimes vomiting If you can, please leave some bowls of water out for our wildlife and check on your elderly neighbours/friends and their pets! Stay cool everyone, it’s going to be a hot one!!
