Our Farmgate near Port Elliot will be open by appointment only, you can call or email us (details available on the website). 24.01.2022 With no doubt, this pandemic has caused enormous loss in peoples lives. However, between January and March 2020, Chinas Ministry of Ecology & Environment has measured an 84.5% increase in days with good air quality in 337 cities. This is likely to be occurring elsewhere. As the air quality improves and sulphur dioxide levels decrease, its a reminder that our current economic system, including our agricultural model is clearly out of sync with our environment....Continue reading

20.01.2022 Linking our NASAA certified organic permaculture gardens to our local community .. Many thanks to those who dropped by our property to pickup their Produce Boxes last Thursday. We hope you enjoy. Under a full "pink" moon, I had a busy time harvesting Produce the previous night. An early start the following morning had figs and apples picked, carrots pulled, cabbages harvested, chives cut, washed and bundled and swiss chard rinsed. 12.01.2022 Ive always given heavily discounted coffees to people who drop by our Store and look as if theyve been sleeping "rough". This morning I noticed this on a friends FB page and decided to implement the concept at our Beach Organics Store at PLANT 4 BOWDEN SA.

11.01.2022 We're attempting to redefine what good food is at Beach Organics and our farm to table approach at our Store at PLANT 4 BOWDEN showcases what we're about. A number of initiatives honed over the last 35 years allow us to offer our customers a vast array of Products we grow ourselves or source directly from our own International Kitchen Garden network. This Project supports small scale organic growers and producers across the globe. Even our sea salt used in our kitchen is harv...ested by hand using traditional techniques. We grow organic kaffir limes on our own permaculture farm near Pt Elliot, slice the fruit and layer it in salt barrels. Its then rested and allowed to gently infuse undisturbed for a minimum of 10 years before being used.

Homes and gardens are being revamped into precious environments and permaculture principles are gaining the recognition they deserve. We too have been busy, re connecting with our Produce gardens, kitchen, revisiting the ancient craft of sourdough baking and fermenting, tempeh making, coffee roasting, harvesting our coriander seed, dehydrating our... figs, apples and pears, making amazake and miso and spreading compost ready for winter veg plantings! An interest of mine extending way back to the mid 1970s.... Having travelled to the Arctic circle to observe time honoured fermentation techniques and relished, over many years, home made tempeh made from soybeans in Indonesia, a slower pace has enabled me to explore this craft a little further. Here we have our third batch of amazake. Made from fermenting organic rice with Aspergillus oryzae ... and our very first batch of miso. Unfortunately, we have to be patient for another 8 months or so to have a taste! We may even syphon off some soy sauce from this batch! Some of our customers at PLANT 4 BOWDEN and our Farm Gate visitors will appreciate and taste our efforts. Weve also made a large batch of Koji rice. With over 100 enzymes, its considered a living food and was declared a National Culture of Japan in 2004. Yum on our porridge in the morning and so good for our digestive health!!! #plant4bowden

Here, part of our wonderful team in Indonesia, are assembling our latest coffee harvest, ready for transportation.... Four kilo lots of organically grown green coffee beans have been vacuum packed, bubble wrapped and strapped. They are then carefully placed into boxes ready for their journey to us. A true labour of love. Before this journey begins, we employ the International Coffee Association to assess our coffee. After passing many hurdles and much work, this becomes our Indonesian - Single Origin - Specialty Coffee. 03.01.2022 Our 80 year old, fully restored, rare French lever press coffee machine delivers a delicious coffee .. and makes the perfect accompaniment to our superb San Remo Opera espresso machine. Volcanic eruptions have enriched and remineralised soils in Indonesia for 1,000s of years. These rich, biodiverse and beautiful "food forest" farming systems are my preferred stomping grounds for sourcing our green coffee beans. Weve supported organic growing practices there for decades.... We vacuum pack all our coffee at source maintaining bean freshness during transportation and enabling us to micro manage them through Australian Quarantine without the usual fumigation. We then carefully roast this coffee at our Beach Organics Store. Thursdays are our roasting day. Another work in progress is a climatically appropriate certified organic permaculture farm weve developed near Pt Elliot SA. Nearly 40 years in the making, this delivers our unique "paddock to plate" menu. Were happy to say we grow approximately 95% of our fresh organic Produce for our plant based menu at PLANT 4 BOWDEN. 02.01.2022 Were attempting to redefine what good food is at Beach Organics and our farm to table approach at our Store at PLANT 4 BOWDEN showcases what were about. A number of initiatives honed over the last 35 years allow us to offer our customers a vast array of Products we grow ourselves or source directly from our own International Kitchen Garden network. This Project supports small scale organic growers and producers across the globe. Even our sea salt used in our kitchen is harv...ested by hand using traditional techniques. We grow organic kaffir limes on our own permaculture farm near Pt Elliot, slice the fruit and layer it in salt barrels. Its then rested and allowed to gently infuse undisturbed for a minimum of 10 years before being used.
