I have a vague memory (from over 30years ago) of some family members sitting around the kitchen table (smoking and holding on to an alcoholic beverage) talking about how potatoes and bread make you sick and fat and you‘d better cut it out or right back to lose weight. The reality is - eating more calories than you need makes the body store fat. ... We are all different with different needs, however most people do really well with 35-50% of their daily energy coming from carbohydrates. You‘ll find carbs as natural and unprocessed as they come in fruit and veggies. Then there‘re whole grains, legumes and pulses. - Aim to have most of your daily carbs to come from these sources for good health. I know first hand how training regularly builds your strength - physically and mentally. Exercise is what makes my good days great and my tough days better. ... My mission is to help women enjoy training, have fun and gain confidence in all areas of their life. Yes, exercise is fun! And so is healthy eating! I know, you must think I’m crazy. But let me take you back to when I trained for hours on end to balance my binge eating. Whilst the lollies, chocolate, pastries and lattes tasted amazing, they stopped feeling great as soon as they were eaten and the guilt and the bloating set in. It wasn’t how I wanted to live. Forever chasing the newest diet and the next celebrity workout was exhausting, unsustainable and soul-crushing. But I definitely wanted to have a flat stomach and fit toned body. And cookies. And wine. It took time to change from being extreme in my approach about training and nutrition to finding a way that works and is sustainable for me. Becoming a mum and Personal Trainer has certainly helped. I no longer train every day for hours on end. I enjoy a balance whole food diet, only restricting the foods I need to manage my psoriasis, leaky gut syndrome and PCOS. (Honestly, Personal Trainers are human. We do get health issues too.) Now I’m here to empower you, so you are able to look in the mirror and love yourself for all that you are right now. And from that place of empowerment and deep love for yourself a healthy, fit and balanced lifestyle is as fun as I described earlier. For now have a look around the page, like it and follow it.
