21.01.2022 WARNING Please be aware members of our community have noticed glass jammed in the decking boards of Beach Boxes Number 131 in Mount Martha. It does appear to be placed like this deliberately and is quite dangerous.... Amazing members of our community have done their best to clean this, but we thought it was important to share so we can all be careful.

16.01.2022 #repost @tenlittlepieces So powerful. Posted @withregram @imagine4future Art installation by @thijs_biersteker We need to talk about butts, "our biggest smallest polluter out there!" "Every single butt can pollute 500 liters of water.65% of the almost 6 trillion cigarettes smoked yearly end up in nature. Did you know that? Because I didn't... Based on facts from @who @plasticsoupfoundation and @surfrider on the impacts of smoking on our soil, rivers and oceans"... --- Check out the artist's post for more info on the art installation! --- Seriously, this is another thing that could be solved, if our governments stepped in and showed that they truly cared, no ifs and no butts! Do you think your government truly cares about protecting your health - our water, our soil, our air, our planet? Let's help ensure this changes... ...it's time to move beyond party politics! On March 23, a bill will be introduced calling for a conscience vote. If passed, this will enable Australia to make an immediate, positive and nationally supported response to climate change. 10.01.2022 Hi All, I know we are all keen to get back out there and start our Beach Patrol Events, but but with the recent rise in covid-19 readings in Victoria and the government restricting groups outside back down to 10 people, we need to continue to hold off unfortunately. We know many of you are still out there collecting litter. We thank you for your efforts Dont forget to use the litter stopper app to report what you are finding, if need help with that, please don't hesitate t...o reach out. Stay safe, we will let you know as soon as the Beach Patrol Committee gives us the green light to get started again Amy and Cathy
10.01.2022 Pity about all the butts at Southbeach. Big salute to all the regulars who clean up Mt Martha beach as they are going for a walk. It has made a huge difference to reducing rubbish along the beach & behind the beach boxes.
09.01.2022 I’m absolutely sick of cleaning up Cokes mess. Are you? Please help by: 1. Signing the petition ... 2. Sharing Coca-Cola's Head of Sustainability has stated that Coca-Cola will not stop producing single-use plastic bottles because 'consumers still want them.' We are telling Coke that that is NOT true, in fact: Consumers are sick and tired of Coca-Cola polluting our planet with single-use plastic. Here's why: Coke produces about 3 million tons of plastic packaging a year (that's equivalent to 200,000 bottles a minute) Coke has been identified as the #1 corporate plastic polluter for the past 2 years Less than 9% of plastic gets recycled (the rest ends up flooding our landfills and polluting our oceans) Coke wants to blame consumers for the plastic pollution crisis rather than accept responsibility for their greedy addiction to plastic It is time for Coca-Cola to be a leader instead of blaming their plastic problem on consumers; we want a future for our children. Please sign this petition telling Coke that we DO NOT want plastic bottles polluting our planet. 07.01.2022 Have you noticed an increase in disposable glove and mask litter? I noticed these today when popping into the supermarket. I understand people wanting to use them to protect their health but let’s disposal of them correctly and look after our planet and not risk the health of the poor people who have to pick them up. ... 03.01.2022 Good morning Beach Patrol Team You would have notice we have been a little quiet here, like most of us we are just trying to come to terms with what is going on in the world right now. Beach Patrol Events are now cancelled until further noticed.... Our special Beach Patrol event will be rescheduled (not cancelled) to another date when it is safe to do so. For those who would like to continue to pick up litter alone (to ensure social distancing) please feel free to use the litter stopper app to record what you are finding. Its super easy and the data can be used to make bigger change by stopping litter at source. If you have any question on using the app, please send us a message and we will assist. I would also suggestion, gloves and tongs for picking up litter and plenty of hand washing. If anyone needs extra support during this time, feel free to join our local awesome Buy Nothing community at https://www.facebook.com/groups/297263247626028/ and we can help you. Stay safe and look after each other Amy and Cathy http://litterstopper.com/index.html
