22.01.2022 Confused by what small businesses are entitled to in the economic stimulus package? Find all correct information here https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus If you employ staff - you will receive back all PAYGW from their wages from Jan-Sep. From a minimum of $20k to a maximum of $100k. Nothing further for you to do. Lodge your BASs when due and govt will do the rest. If you employ apprentices and trainees - 50% of their wages between Jan-Sep will be subsidised. Register f...or this from April and make your claim between Oct-Dec. Not drawing a wage and not on Centrelink - you could apply for finance backed by the govt; or you could access some of your super - hardly seems fair, I know! You have quarterly PAYG too, so why are you not treated like any other employee! If youre a small business owner and still unsure of what you are entitled to - contact me for assistance.

19.01.2022 Paying your credit card but wondering why you keep getting hit with interest and late payment fees? Its because your payments are not being made between the end of the billing period and the due date. 12.01.2022 Are you supposed to hold off on lodging your BAS till 28th April? No! There is a lot of talk at the moment of the first roll-out of the business cash flow boost for employers applying to your Jan-Mar BAS from 28th April.."and not before". Some of this info has been poorly worded...you can still lodge your BAS prior to 28th April - the cash flow boost just wont be applied until the 28th.... So lodge it early if completed ...can you just imagine the govt portal if everyone was trying to lodge on the 28th April! To keep up to date with all ATO info, as changes often, please go to https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/businesses

08.01.2022 Its tax time....and a great time for scammers posing as the ATO. Here are some tips to expose them....be alert.

07.01.2022 A simple tip to minimise your admin: Pay your bills once a week. - stick to the same day each week so it becomes routine... - pay all bills that fall due within the following week - do this for all business and personal bills (preferably using separate bank accounts) This will help: - avoid late payment fees - reduce your time and energy spent on admin - keep your money in your control longer - make more time available to do what you do best

07.01.2022 So Bunnings underpays super for over 8 years to staff! How does this happen for so long? Out of their 40,000 employees, I wonder how many knew their rights? See how you can reduce this happening...read more here.

07.01.2022 From 1 August 2018, modern awards will be varied to give employees access to 5 days of unpaid family and domestic violence leave each year. The leave can be taken by employees to deal with the impact of family and domestic violence. This includes (but isnt limited to) taking time to: make arrangements for their safety, or the safety of a family member attend court hearings... access police services. This applies to casual workers too.

07.01.2022 Are you always confused with the reference fields when transferring money online? Follow this simple tip to keep your bookkeeper from being confused too :) The from reference field (being what shows on your statement) should include WHO you are paying, not WHAT you are paying. The to reference field (being what shows on the payees statement) should include your own business name. ... Unless the payee has specifically requested a reference no, please just use your name and an invoice number if it fits. If the invoice number doesnt fit, just use your name. They will easily marry your payment up with the invoice being paid. I know you might think that only putting the invoice number should also get payment to the right place but this causes the payee more work in looking up who that invoice belongs to. And if you got a digit wrong, theyll apply your payment to another customers invoice. Follow this simple tip to avoid confusion...and relax.

07.01.2022 Finding it hard to pay your BAS debt when due? Heres a tip that may help: - Set up a separate bank account in the business name - each week, transfer from your business trading account: * gst portion of all customer deposits (divide by 11) * Payroll PAYGW plus super... * Pro-rated portion of any quarterly PAYGI Why not take advantage of using a mortgage offset account to hold these funds and reduce your interest on your home loan at the same time? Be sure it has a redraw facility so that you can use these funds to pay your BAS, super and IAS, and be sure to have it back in the Company bank account by 30th June to avoid any shareholder loan problems. You can always then transfer it back to the offset account in July. Easy peasy!

06.01.2022 For those of you who have not paid your employees superannuation guarantee in the past: From the 24th May, 2018, there is a 12 month Superannuation Guarantee Amnesty. The Amnesty is a one-off opportunity for employers to self-correct past super guarantee (SG) non-compliance without penalty. Subject to the passage of legislation, the Amnesty will be available from 24 May 2018 to 23 May 2019. For more info https://www.ato.gov.au///Superannuation-Guarantee-Amnesty/... Just another way to relax.....
