This is the first collection we’ve designed using a hand crafted fabric that’s been over a year in the making due to The current global pandemic. The initial concept of this print started 18 months ago and we’ve been trialling different fabrics and base tones until we found this one. ... Cotton muslin has breath ability, and comfort, must for our summer lifestyle and comfort. The base colour has been dyed to create the right background for our exclusive screen print to pop. Samples of fabric have been travelling between WA and our team in Bali more times than we care to count to get the right tones and fabric feel. 24.01.2022 This summer season’s collection will be arriving soon... No lie, it’s been a challenge this year bringing this range to our customers. Behind the images are months of working via zoom , hundreds of emails, FaceTime sampling, and competing with other labels to purchase fabric as it becomes available. If you’ve been watching the news in the last two months, you’ll realise the extra difficulty freight companies have had with the congestion of ships waiting in the ports to be p...rocessed and massive increases in charges. It’s the first we’ve done without working alongside our beautiful ladies in Bali. We’ve missed them all so much, starting our meetings swapping Balinese sweet treats with our violet crinkles and cherry ripes and the laughter as we work together. They truly are grateful to still be working and have made it possible to bring this summer season this year. I’m sure I will be emotional and most likely hug the courier driver when he arrives with the stock in the next week! (Be warned).

20.01.2022 Time to show my face... and to share a little about myself ... a big deal to me, but social media experts think it’s a good thing! I was raised in PNG and never wore shoes until I was 13. Electricity and chocolates and an inside toilet were luxuries my family only dreamed about. My sister and I wore the reject clothes the charity groups sent to the local village and we would upcycle what we could. These days, we call it vintage. ... My first job as a junior graphic artist funded my first car... a mini that my dear dad hand painted blue with a hand brush. I hide chocolates from myself and have a chilled Rose’ in the fridge at all times (Who knew Rose’ was going to be trending again)? I’m married to my best friend. All I want for Christmas is a box of shiny new (white) wooden clothes hangers.. I love creating and designing and the best compliment is to hear someone say they love to wear them. x I wish I’d started @beachstreetdesign sooner! Best thing in the world is to see my babies raise theirs! I can’t wait to travel again.

Our checklist reads like this... is it natural, (no synthetics), does it feel great on the skin, Eg: Silk, cotton, rayon voiles, cotton voile etc. Does it reflect the west coast in colours and textures? I do get distracted, especially with the beautiful embellished beaded silks in India.. but my partner is quick to nudge me back to our checklist. ... This gorgeous sage cotton was a surprise find in Vietnam... in the most unexpected location... we hope you love it as much as we do.

Accessing and sourcing products, raw materials to produce those products and working remotely without the very important face to face meetings is a challenge this year. Some brands have closed down, others are not producing this year, some may not continue on sadly. Businesses are spending more time, effort and cost to bring those sought after products to fill their retail spaces. ... Freight is costing more, often double due to rerouting to different countries. Orders take longer to arrive for many reasons, hard borders, travel restrictions etc. When you visit your local gift shop, florist, homewares or fashion shop this week, please show your appreciation in some meaningful way, those retailers will love you for it!
