12.01.2022 Did you know? The real reason why the ocean appears blue is that of the way it absorbs sunlight. When sunlight hits the waters surface, water molecules mainly absorb longer length light rays such as those in the orange, red and yellow sectors. As blue is a shorter length, they are least absorbed by water molecules. The blue rays get reflected back into our eyes. This is why we usually see the ocean water as if it’s blue.
