25.01.2022 Our machinery writer Ken Wilson stopped in at the Beacon Men's Shed to have a yarn with some tinkerers. Beacon farmer Bruce Ingleton set up the shed with his... mate and retired local businessman Maurice Bailey in 2010 and can tell you a story behind all the 33 machines currently housed there. See more

14.01.2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxuyVb353S0&feature=youtu.be The beautiful wheatbelt town of Beacon is located within the Shire of Mt Marshall and is approximat...ely 320 kilometres North East of Perth. It has a long Western Australian history with John Septimus Roe exploring the area in 1836 with Sandalwood Cutters and Shepherds frequenting the area from the 1870s and 80s. I was fortunate to have visited this town on one of my Wheatbelt Drive Tours. From the first people I met at the Community Co-op, on to notable Merino Breeders and Farmers to workers and locals at the Country Club it is obvious that they are a very cohesive and welcoming community of great Australians. Annually through the Beacon Progress Association and generous volunteers this community harvest approximately 500 hectares of grain and the proceeds are distributed to assist in running local projects and services. Typically of local community heroes this generosity is just a normal part of their lives and their selfless contribution, to them , is just part of 'what they do'. I urge all caravaners and tourists wanting an unforgettable experience in the Wheatbelt Outback to visit and stay at the well appointed and maintained Beacon Caravan Park or spend time out at Billiburning Rock after stocking up at the local Community owned Co-op. Without doubt Beacon lives up to its literal meaning as it serves as a guidance for us all. It's community spirit in a sometimes tough environment endures while helping others and providing an example of what it truly means to be an Australian.

09.01.2022 MONDAY FLASHBACK : they only finished this years tours at the end of September but the Monday Beacon Wildflower Tours were a great addition to the activities on... offer to locals and visitors in the Wheatbelt Way this spring! In its second year this tour proved very popular with many planning a #Wheatbeltweekend in Beacon and staying on the Monday for the Wildflower Tour with nearly all the tours booked out! A great initiative of the Beacon Community with the support of the Beacon Central Crc Beacon Progress Association and the local volunteers! Already looking forward to next year, below are all the volunteers taking a well earned break in the pink everlastings when they were at their best! Zeta Miguel #mywheatbelt
