25.01.2022 "Doing a science experiment with year 6. Warm water, sugar and yeast. The gas is blowing up our balloons!!!!" (from Sue Rogers, helping the Grade 6 students discover the properties of BREAD while teaching in an international Christian school in Hong Kong). Kitchen chemistry is a great way to integrate with the "God is Provider" theme. It can be linked to the Bible stories of bread, such as "Loaves and fishes" and provision for the Shunamite woman.

18.01.2022 Art workshop at Beacon Media teachers seminar, Suva, Fiji. Teachers are experiences activities that they could introduce to their students. They are taking a G...od-centred theme, such as God is Provider, God is Love, God is Light, God is Light. Their art work reflects a classroom topic that is related to these attributes of God. The Beacon Media topic-based approach encourages creative classroom displays so that the room visually speaks of the attribute of God being studied at the time. See more

10.01.2022 Ive been making story card holders for Fijian literacy. These fabric hangings are ideal for holding laminated literacy cards and require no furniture for storage - just a nail on the wall. Thanks to Simone for giving me all her beautiful scraps of fabric.

04.01.2022 Seminars for teachers, Suva Fiji July 4th - 11th. New workshops this year: play-based learning, maths games and writing. Thanks to the Australian teachers Kaaren Smith, Linda Yeoman and Naomi Reid for making this possible. And to all the Fijian teachers who showed their enthusiasm!

04.01.2022 Some positive feedback from our recent Beacon Media seminar in Fiji.....Elenoa Pickering of Suva Assemblies of God writes:..."Four of our Sunday School teachers attended the Beacon Media training at Nasinu Gospel Primary in July this year. It has made an impact on our teaching in First Church Assemblies of God. I like the idea of God-centred curriculum. We all find the one hour allocated to us on Sunday mornings is just not enough to cover everything. I have downloaded most of the materials and we have bought a laminating machine to keep materials longer. Skills of teachers are put into good use and we have also started sewing our own puppets. I told Lorraine Frost because we attend same church. She is quite impressed also. Again I say thank you and also to Lorraine for passing on the info on this training."

03.01.2022 Children are making reading books at Nasinu Gospel Primary, Suva, Fiji. Reading books are in short supply and how interesting it is for children to read the books they have made. This activity gives the children a creative change from their usual work in exercise books.

03.01.2022 If you are not up with the evil battle to confiscate Christian religious education in Australian government schools then you need to have a look at this recent segment on the ABCs "7.30". There is a group of atheists who have eradication of CRE as their major aim in life. The following TV program is not only biased towards a humanist viewpoint but also promoting lies. The ABC is treating "fundamentalist" (true) Christians as an enemy of society, a group of people who should be outlawed. Unfortunately the government is listening to the minority and there will be some changes in third term. Its time that Christians spoke louder than the atheists. http://www.abc.net.au//questions-asked-about-relig/5443676

03.01.2022 By visiting schools in Suva Fiji, the Beacon Media team has been able to identify some areas of need and come up with some possible ways to assist. One proposal that has been put forward to the Fijian Ministry of Education is for Beacon Media to conduct a teachers aide training course. This will allow helpers to assist in the classrooms, where many teachers are faced with coping with 50 students of various levels, in one class with no assistance. The Ministry of Education has now given approval and the first Teachers aide training session will be help in the first week of December, so that teachers aides will be ready to take up position in the pilot school at the beginning of 2015. Praise the Lord for working for us and moving people in high places!
