05.01.2022 How does pregnancy affect your feet? Changes generally occur during the second and third trimester as your pelvic alignment and centre of gravity shifts. These changes are normal however as the pelvic alignment changes down your legs the feet start to pronate or your feet roll in and can predispose you to foot and heel pain. Other major changes include those to do with hormones which increase the laxity of ligaments and increase body fluid causing your feet and ankles to swell, lengthen and widen. This can further cause pressure areas to your feet triggering hard painful skin, corns and more commonly ingrown toes nails. Check out some of your helpful tips in preventing foot problems during pregancy.
