15.01.2022 Today is World Scout Day. On this day Scouts Australia (SA Branch) recognises the outstanding achievement & contributions to the Scouting Movement, of Leaders and Supporters of Scouting who have been awarded Adult Recognition Awards on 1 August 2018. The South Australian Branch Chief Commissioner Harry Long and SA President Mr Paul Dickson thank these adults for their dedication and commitment to Scouting on behalf of the many thousands of Scouts, both past and present.... Congratulations to all award recipients, including those from Beadell Scout District. Thank you for your service & dedication to make Scouting one of Australia's leading youth organisations. Your awards are well deserved!

14.01.2022 It's National Volunteer Week. A huge "THANK YOU" to all the leaders, parents & helpers who volunteer their time & skills to help make Scouting an enjoyable learning adventure for our youth. You are all appreciated more than you'll ever know!

12.01.2022 For those interested to know the meaning behind our district name... Beadell Scout District is named after Australian explorer & surveyor Len Beadell. Len was a member of the 1st Burwood Scout Group (NSW). He developed a love of camping through his troop leader who taught his Scouts how to navigate by the stars. In later life, Len was commissioned to find a location suitable for NASA to test their rockets in outback SA. This he did mostly unaccompanied. The land he explored ...in the process makes up a large section of our Scout District. What better way to honour a Scout who called this region home for several years! To learn more about Len check out this website... https://www.lenbeadell.com.au (Photo shared with permission from Len's daughter, Jacqui)

12.01.2022 In case you have previously missed it, here is another look at our Television Commercial. This is being used by other states including a big campaign in WA.

12.01.2022 Original text is by parent from interstate. I have updated the website to that of Scouts SA. Unfortunately we don't have any Rover Crews in our Scout District however there is the option of joining SA Lone Rovers. - Heather Snowden (Assistnt District Commissioner) ________________________________________... When my kids were little, I just wanted them to grow up to be good people. As they grew it became obvious to me that they needed some good life skills to navigate the world to manage bullying, to stand up for themselves, to contribute in some way, to feel safe and that they belonged. I am pleased to say I have achieved this with my kids as they step out into the world as well functioning adults contributing to making the world a better place. How did I do it? I enrolled them in scouting. I knew they were benefiting in many ways, however I have just seen the results of a survey which has been done for the Joey section (5-7 year olds) and I now have more of an understanding exactly what I gave them with my decision to join them in scouting. Here is what the data revealed when comparing joey scouts to kids the same age who do not attend joeys: Joeys are: More resilient More connected, respected and protected Have a sense of empowerment in their own lives Feel safer in their community Feel safer at school Feel safer in and around their home Less likely to be bullied and feel equiped to manage it Have a greater sense of belonging in their communities More likely to be cared for by an adult outside the family Feel more hopeful about their life More able to solve challenges and problems More likely to find another way rather than quit More motivated Less likely to resort to or accept violence and aggression Mental health is better A stronger sense of trust and are more trustworthy More forgiving of themselves and others More likely to help others Seeing this list yes I can say my kids definitely compare well to others who did not do scouting. Their leadership, teamwork and pride in who they are is now showing up in their work environments. Do your kids a favour - try out 2-3 joey (or cubs, scouts or venturers) nights to see if it is a good fit for them. These are profound gifts you can be offering your child. There are scouting groups everywhere if you need assistance finding one, please reach out to me, I'm more than happy to help you. If you prefer to look yourself - go to www.sa.scouts.com.au Joeys 5-7 year olds Cubs 7-11 year olds Scouts 11-15 year olds Venturers 15-18 year olds Rovers 18-26 year olds

08.01.2022 Be Prepared to pass on your skills! One of the great things about being a Scout Leader is that you not only learn new skills but you get to pass them on to a new generation. Think of the fun you will have, the lives you will change, the thanks you will get! Join Scouts in 2020!
