23.01.2022 Central Goldfields Ratepayers & Residents Assn Inc President Wayne McKail has offered some clarification and advice on Fire Preparedness letters recently sent o...ut to landowners by Central Goldfields Shire Council. "These are not penalty notices or orders, but clean-up notices that 'It is fire season coming and for all landowners to be aware of it and to make sure your properties are well maintained'," Wayne points out. "Should the Council inspect your property at a later date and serve a fire notice, you then will be required to act in accordance with that infringement notice." "Please take this notice as a reminder to make sure all your properties are maintained correctly prior to the fire season. Please don't be alarmed, but treat this as a timely precaution." "We have contacted the Officer involved and he has confirmed this is only a reminder, not a notice," clarifies Wayne. To help prepare for the upcoming fire season, Central Goldfields Shire Council is offering free green waste disposal for residents. This service is available at the Carisbrook, Talbot and Dunolly transfer stations every weekend from now until Sunday 29th November. Are you prepared for the fire season?

Th...e four heavy helicopters are at the Coulson airbase undergoing routine maintenance and work ready to be deployed to their summer bases in fire prone regional parts of the State. We’ve been supporting communities and firefighters in Australia for more than 20 years through some of the country’s worst bushfire events. Our company and crews are proud to continue to provide that support when it’s needed most. #coulsonaviation #coulsonaviationaustralia #helicopters #aircraft #australianfires

15.01.2022 We see the impacts of reckless and negligent behaviour every fire season. Today, Assistant Chief Fire Officer - Bernie Fradd joined Victoria Police at the launc...h of #OperationSafeguard - set up to prevent and detect the occurrence of intentional and reckless fires. Take extra care this fire season when lighting recreational fires like campfires, conducting burn-offs or using machinery. Keeping our communities safe from bushfire is a shared responsibility.

10.01.2022 Do you know Your Total Fire Ban District? Victoria is divided into nine Fire Districts which are based on council boundaries. Make sure you always know what fire district you are in whether at home or travelling. www.cfa.vic.gov.au/warnings-restric/find-your-fire-district

09.01.2022 Grassfires can start anywhere and spread quickly. If a grassfire starts, walk at least two streets back from the fire. If you live two or three streets away fr...om grassland and a grassfire starts, stay where you are. Never drive if you can see smoke or fire. Thick smoke will make it hard to see and traffic jams and accidents are likely. Keep roads clear for emergency services. www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-pr/grassfires-near-cities-and-towns See more

09.01.2022 Victoria is going to implement the first step towards the new national warning system from today. In support of the new national warning system Victoria will ad...opt the new national icons set from December 2, 2020. The Australian Warning System is a new national approach to information and warnings during five natural disasters - bushfire, flood, extreme heat, cyclones and severe weather. Until now, we have seen variations in how agencies across Australia issue warnings to their communities. The VicEmergency website will be updated with the new iconography on December 2, with the VicEmergency app updated shortly afterwards.

07.01.2022 PLEASE BURN WITH CAUTION Unfortunately two burn-offs took off today in the Macedon Ranges - while one was luckily extinguished by the property owners in K...yneton before CFA crews arrived, the other in Malmsbury spread quickly and burnt out-of-control until the big red fire trucks rolled in. Don’t get caught out on warm, breezy days and let your bonfire become a bushfire - check the weather, register your burn, monitor conditions and have plenty of water on hand for extinguishment. And of course, if your burn-off does spread out-of-control and you’re unable to extinguish it quickly, call Triple Zero (000) for help from us immediately - we’d much rather tackle a small burn than a big fire. Register your burn www.cfa.vic.gov.au/contact/register-your-burn-off. Make sure you’re burning-off safely www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/burning-off. Check Macedon Ranges Shire Council requirements www.mrsc.vic.gov.au//Fire-Emergencies/Fire-Heat/Burning-Off. : Midland Express
