21.01.2022 NDIS planning meetings (& plans!) can be confusing to navigate, especially with all the changes this year. Here’s a simple guide from The Growing Space:

21.01.2022 Beanstalk families you no doubt know by now SA is in a 6 day lockdown. This means our face-to-face services will be suspended from midnight until Tuesday 24th November. No Zoom therapy either during this time, we will advise more next week if lockdown is extended beyond Wednesday. Stay home and stay safe. Enjoy books on the couch together, Netflix on the TV, and running through the sprinkler to stay cool. We can't wait to see you all again soon!

18.01.2022 Wishing all our dads out there a wonderful Father's Day today Thank you You welcome us into your homes, join in therapy sessions, give piggy back rides, even sing Baby Shark when required . . .there's nothing you wouldn't do for your kids. Dads, you are so loved

16.01.2022 Did you know ABA can help with tolerating medical procedures like an EEG? Check out our latest case study by Alisha, Caitlin and Ebony. They helped a young boy with ASD (and suspected seizure activity) tolerate wearing 14 electrodes over a 24 hour period. Huge well done ladies Many thanks to Paediatric Neurologist Dr Nicholas Smith and his amazing team at The Women's and Children's Hospital for inviting us in to make this a success.

13.01.2022 Teachers you are going to want to read this article! How to increase student cooperation and participation, and prevent the development of challenging behaviour. Thanks to Dr Erin Leif and colleagues at Monash University on such an excellent article:... https://www.monash.edu//five-ways-to-use-positive-behaviou

09.01.2022 SA lockdown ending early! From midnight tomorrow night the circuit breaker lockdown ends Beanstalk Therapy sessions & clinics are back to normal from Monday November 23rd. Woo hoo!

06.01.2022 Fact: The risk of a child developing ASD is at least 14 times higher if they have a sibling with a diagnosis, and even more if they are male. The good news is that emerging research shows very early intervention that targets social engagement and reciprocity can steer brain development back toward the normal trajectory and remit or reduce the expression of symptoms- Webb et al., 2014. We have worked with many at-risk siblings over the years, but this week, thanks t...o our amazing BCBA Jacq and her experience with infants, we began services with our youngest client - 9 months old. We can't wait to see him grow! #earlyintervention #appliedbehaviouranalysis #atrisk #bcba

04.01.2022 Online meeting next Monday night to discuss getting this school started. We'll be there with bells on Seedling Academy will need all the help they can get from ABA families and professionals in SA to get this off the ground. , offer your ideas, what you'd want in a school for your child, what you wouldn't want, what is most important for their success and wellbeing

04.01.2022 : 47% of children with ASD also have gastrointestinal problems. In a study in by Restrepo et al, children with ASD were three times more likely to have GI symptoms than their typically developing peers. Increased GI symptoms were associated with increased problem behaviors such as: ... and The article describes how GI problems are often treatable, and how important it is to recognise symptoms as soon as possible. 02.01.2022 One of the biggest contributors to our science of behaviour analysis has passed away. Thank you Dr. Jack Michael for all you have done for our field. Jack was the first to apply behaviour analytic principles (in the 1950s!) to socially significant behaviour. Jack’s papers on motivation are still discussed in BCBA supervision at Beanstalk! ... It’s how we change lives everyday. The world lost an amazing man Rest In Peace #appliedbehaviouranalysis #drjackmichael #bcba
