Cast Intro #8 Introducing Angela McKeown as MISS JENKINS Angela's experience spans way over twenty years with her first production being at The Roxy Theatre sometime back in the 80's as a 'wino' in Little Shop of Horrors.... Since then Angela has been active with various production companies. Starting out in musicals/comedies until the last ten years where Angela has been drawn more to dramas, contemporary theatre and new work by local playwrights. "It's important to work with different companies, to experience new approaches to your acting- don't get complacent with your craft no matter how many years you've been doing this. It also keeps me young...at heart." Some of Angela's recent theatre accolades include, Where Late The Songbird (Judith Shakespeare), touring season of, Neighbourhood Watch (Brenda) Ajax In Iraq (Gertrude Bell), Waiting For Godot (Lucky) and Mamma Mia! (Tanya) which earned Angela her first City of Newcastle Drama Association - CONDAs win for best supporting actress in a musical having numerous nominations under her belt from past productions. Since graduating from the Hunter School of the Performing Arts (2007), Carl has performed in more than 40 productions across Newcastle’s thriving theatre community past roles include Norm in Knock And Run Theatre’s award-winning production of ‘Suicide, Incorporated’ (2016), Elwood P. Dowd in Newcastle Theatre Company’s ...‘Harvey’ (2018) and Richard Hannay in Metropolitan Players’ ‘The 39 Steps’ (2020). Between 2014 2019, Carl was a member of the City of Newcastle Drama Association - CONDAs judging panel. Over the past few years he has been involved in a range of Newcastle and Sydney based productions including local favourites, Equus (Stooged Theatre), Away (Pantseat Productions), Dapto Chaser (Pencil Case Productions), the original and return seasons of Suicide Incorporated, Circumfer...ence of a Squirrel, and most recently The Unseen. 10.01.2022 'Do Your Parents Know You're Straight?' Cast Intro #2 Introducing Annie McLoughlin as RILEY Annie is extremely honoured to be a part of the next amazing Bearfoot production DYPKYS! It is her second time working with Bearfoot theatre and she can’t wait to bring Riley to life. Annie has previously been involved in Young People's Theatre Newcastle for six years, appearing in a number of performances. She has also been involved in productions with Harvest Rain and the Aspir...e program. Her first production with Bearfoot was Hermit Crabs and Meteors where she played Emilio! Annie has been a part of The Michael Nolan Vocal Studio for seven years and is currently completing year 12 at tafe NSW. Annie is so excited to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast, script and character and can’t wait to take another journey with her family at Bearfoot! 09.01.2022 'Do Your Parents Know You're Straight?' Cast Intro #5 Introducing Nicholas Thoroughgood as TYLER Nicholas started theatre in 2008 playing a frog in Snugglepot and Cuddlepie with Young People's Theatre Newcastle (YPT); with whom he’s had most of his theatrical training. After this first show he hasn’t stopped, playing various ensemble roles with YPT before gaining his first lead role in his primary school’s production of Seussical the Musical Jr. playing Jojo (Hunter Sch...ool of the Performing Arts, 2010). After this he successfully auditioned for the role of Michael Banks in Disney’s Mary Poppins, while it was playing in the Capitol Theatre in Sydney, 2011. On return to Newcastle he’s played many roles from Oliver in Oliver the Musical (Metropolitan Players, 2012), Archie in 13 the Musical (National Theatre Company, 2013), Leaf Coneybear in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (YPT, 2016), Arty in Lost in Yonkers (Newcastle Theatre Company, 2014) to Posner in the History Boys (Lindsay Street Players, 2016). He has taken both Tap and Movement technique classes (Renee Perry’s School of Dance) for most of his life as well as Vocal lessons (Miss Kim’s School of Voice). Nicholas has received multiple awards in the industry including two City of Newcastle Drama Association - CONDAs awards for ‘Excellence by a Male Actor Under 18’ for his roles in the History Boys and Lost in Yonkers. He has also been awarded two awards from the Sharp Short Theatre competition (Riverside Theatre) for Best Actor (2015) for his role in ‘the Librarian’ and then Best Director (2016) for his work on ‘Silence’. He then went on to make his directorial debut with the Lindsay Street Players production of the Crucible (2017) followed shortly by his second Directorial stint in Alice in Wonderland Jr at Young People’s Theatre (2018). Nicholas has also fostered an interest in writing, having his first full play ‘I Hope it’s Not Raining in London’ being staged by Bearfoot Theatre mid 2018. He performed in both the 2018 production and 2019 interstate touring production of 'I Hope it's Not Raining in London.' Nicholas studied acting at 16th Street Actors Studio in Melbourne in their full-time program and is now working as a drama tutor at Maitland Repertory Theatre. 01.01.2022 'Do Your Parents Know You're Straight?' Cast Intro #1 Introducing Samuel Jenkins as CASEY Samuel Jenkins is an 18-year-old, Newcastle based actor and has been involved in theatre in Newcastle since the age of 8. Samuel has been a long-time student and recently appointed tutor at Young People’s Theatre Newcastle for the past 10 years, studying a variety of disciplines including drama, musical theatre, technical crew and directing. Some of his show credits include CATS Ab...ridged (Young People’s Theatre Newcastle, 2017), Alice in Wonderland Jr (Young People’s Theatre Newcastle, 2018) and the Hot Mikado (Young People’s Theatre Newcastle 2019). Samuel has also extended his theatrical experience internationally after being selected to become apart of the Australian team for the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta earlier this year and has also had the opportunity to act as a CONDA Youth Ambassador for 2020, representing the Youth theatre community of Newcastle.
