25.01.2022 This is my home town in the UK. What occurred last weekend makes me think what I would and could have been like during a global pandemic and whether I would follow the rules or head off to an illegal rave because I was over it all the restrictions. I can literally have a debate in my he'd about it right how - adult in risk management versus teenager wanting to live life to the fullest! And that is one of my big fears, as a society, that the rules and legislation are going to be broken more and more as people become frustrated and want to start living again because the pandemic is only directly impacting them due to the restrictions, not the illness itself. There are going to be a lot of lessons learnt in the coming weeks, months and years.

23.01.2022 COVID 19 (or as a friend of my daughter refers to it - fart fart), has created an unprecedented situation for everyone. So it is understandable for you to wonder how to ensure the protection of yourself and other team members during this, as well as when we start coming out on the other side. Once COVID-19 restrictions are gradually relaxed (and they will), businesses, workers, employees and other duty holders must work together to adapt and promote safe work practices, consi...stent with advice from health authorities, to ensure their workplaces are ready for social distancing and exemplary hygiene measures that will be an important part of the transition. What is your duty as an employer (please note this list is not exhaustive): - Must actively control against the transmission of COVID-19 while at work, consistent with the latest advice from The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee (AHPPC) Conduct a risk assessment prior to workers / employees return to their usual workplace, in consultation with workers / employees, and in line with latest advice from public health authorities (including assessments for vulnerable workers / employees) - Must prepare for the potential that their will be cases pf COVOD-19 in the workplace and be ready to respond immediately, appropriately, effectively and efficiently, and consistent with advice from health authorities Must, in consultation with workers / employees, and if applicable, their representatives, assess the way they work to identify, understand and assess the risks to then implement and review control measures to address those risks - Provide suitable PPE and cleaning products and provide instruction and training on appropriate cleaning and disinfection for the workplace - Can not enforce a worker / employee to download the Governments COVID-19 app What is your duty as an employee (please note this list is not exhaustive): - To take care of your own health and safety, which includes working from home, and must follow any reasonable policies or directions their employer gives them - Wear suitable PPE as directed by their employer and / or public health advice - Comply with public health advice and any emergency measures - If you are unwell, you should not leave home and seek medical advice For further information please read on Safe Work Australia website #safeworkaustralia #safetyatwork #coronavirus

23.01.2022 As some of you are now starting to consider a return to work in the normal physical workplace, if you are not already there, you need to know / remember that there is a requirement for all workplaces to complete a risk assessment, as part of the permission to resume normal services / operations, and I thought it may help you navigate this process - for free, no obligation. I just want everyone to start re-entry so we can all start winding our businesses back up again as then ...Continue reading

It is the governments expectation that at last one staff member at every venue will have completed the training. There is lots information in the guidelines along with checklists, fact sheets, signage and posters to help your business safely reopen.

19.01.2022 its finally in black and white: Can I live-stream performances from my venue without an audience? Yes, you can live-stream a performance without a live audience at your venue.... You should ensure the performers and technicians maintain at least 1.5 metres between themselves and others. They must wear a fitted face mask covering the nose and mouth. Only the minimum number of people required to stream the performance are permitted to attend the venue. Venues will need to keep records of those in attendance, comply with workplace requirements, and have a COVIDSafe Plan in place.

18.01.2022 What happens when you don't close the toilet lid? That lid is there for a reason! Because if you don't close that toilet lid when you flush, a lot of unfriendly bacteria is going to spray all over your bathroom. ... When the toilet contains feces or vomit, the flush can produce potentially infectious aerosols that will live in your bathroom for hours. Think of your toothbrush at the vey least!

18.01.2022 Some good news for those Tier 2 events:

17.01.2022 Parliamentary Inquiry into Support for Victoria's Event Industry Save Victorian Events welcomes the unanimous vote by Victoria's Legislative Council to establish a parliamentary inquiry into support for Victoria's Tourism and Event Sectors. This is a direct result of nearly two thousand people and businesses from right across Victoria's Event Industry working together to highlight the desperate situation in our industry.... The inquiry can finally shine a light on the truly appalling way Victoria's was iconic Event Industry has been treated throughout this pandemic. And, we hope, will cause the Victorian Government to final act, and act quickly, to put in place the urgently needed support so that we do not lose an entire generation of people and businesses from our event industry at the end of March. Thank you everyone for your support as this is the direct result of all the emails, calls and surveys you have done.

15.01.2022 Great news. As I say to all my clients, Santa, just make sure your COVIDSafe plan (and your risk management plan) is true and real. Also please do consult with the reindeers and elves to ensure they understand the requirements and they can meet them and perform their scopes of works.

13.01.2022 Everyone is asking for, but yet wondering, what a COVID Safe Plan is. In my world of risk management, covid (I actually hate giving it capital letters like it is royalty of some form, so from now on its just a general name, in lower case, in these posts) it is just another risk component in everyday business and actually everyday life. When dealing with my hospitality clients, I advise them they need to handle a confirmed case just as they would a confirmed case of food poiso...ning. I am not taking away from the potential severity of a case, or a cluster, but just think of the comparison to what it is in your everyday normal business practice: a staff member off work for 14 days, your business having to close and deep clean, staff or customers staying away, your business name being mentioned in the news as having a confirmed case, etc. Right now it is a huge minefield for all, let alone us business owners. And hence I just so want everyone to be able to get back to work and do what they love and enjoy, and earn a living so hence I have created a free assessment tool and template for covid: https://beaspoke.com.au/covid-19-safety-plan. Moreover, I have guidance notes about what you ned to be thinking about in your cover plan, and actually now everyday life (no strings attached honestly). In the meantime time, stay safe, wash you hands for at least 20 seconds, with soap, and please please please, tell everyone you know, to put the toilet lid down before the flush button is pressed. #toiletsneeze

12.01.2022 just a reminder the clocks change tonight..... spring forward....

11.01.2022 Temporary Occupational Health and Safety (COVID-19 Incident Notification) Regulations 2020 (OHS COVID-19 Regulations) commenced yesterday, Tuesday 28 July 2020. Previously, employers were not required to notify WorkSafe Victoria (WorkSafe) of an infectious disease in the workplace, unless immediate inpatient treatment is required or the disease is the cause (or suspected cause) of a death. However in this state of emergency and pandemic situation, timely notification of poten...tial workplace transmission of COVID19 is critical for efficient and effective management of related health and safety risks, and the prompt investigation of potential breaches of employer duties. The OHS COVID-19 Regulations will extend the operation of Part 5 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (OHS Act) to require duty holders to notify WorkSafe if: an employer becomes aware that an employee or independent contractor engaged by the employer, and any employees of the independent contractor, has received a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, and has attended the workplace within the infectious period (being 14 days prior to receiving the confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 and until clearance from isolation has been received); or a self-employed person has received a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 and has attended the workplace within the infectious period (being 14 days prior to receiving the confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 and until clearance from isolation has been received). A penalty will apply for failing to notify WorkSafe under section 38 of the OHS Act up to $39,652 (240 penalty units) for an individual or $198,264 (1200 penalty units) for a body corporate. The OHS COVID-19 Regulations are temporary in nature and will expire 12 months after their making. WorkSafe will review the OHS COVID-19 Regulations during the 12-month period of operation. Further information is available on the WorkSafe website

07.01.2022 Did you know that closing the toilet lid can help suppress some of the spread of germs, including COVID-19? We are finding out that many didn't know this! The sneeze effect is a term coined by Dr Charles Gerba after he carried out a study on the spread of bacteria when a toilet is flushed.... His study found that large numbers of bacteria and germs collect in the toilet bowl despite persistent flushing. Each time the toilet is then flushed an invisible cloud of dirty water and bacteria is projected out of the bowl spreading up to 8 feet away the sneeze effect. #putthetoiletliddown

03.01.2022 #WeMakeEventsAus is on Red Alert to raise awareness of Australia's highly skilled industry professionals, all of whom have had no work since March, with little likelihood of restarting until well into 2021, and if not longer in some cases. Our industry includes a huge supply chain ranging from production, audio, lighting and video, to logistics, planning, transportation, hospitality, catering, food trucks, entertainers, musicians, venues, cleaners, security, as well as tempor...ary infrastructure, staging, fencing, toilets, marquees, theming, entertainers, musicians, PR and marketing, printing, signage... the list actually goes on. Without additional support for the supply chain, Australia, and very much more so Melbourne, is in danger of losing its global position as a world leader in world-class events. Moreover, all of our incredible creatives and technicians could lose their livelihoods for good. We are calling for meaningful support from both Fed and State Government until the industry is allowed to operate in a way that is not limited by physical distancing policies including: 1. Grants not loans made available to businesses in the events supply chain 2. JobKeeper scheme extended until the industry is back to work 3. Extension of the self-employment scheme, tailored towards the industry #danandrews #savevictorianevents #ScottMorrison #Scomo

03.01.2022 did you know the public event framework (for Tier 3) changed recently? Tier 3: Involves fewer than 1,000 attendees if your business or organisation already has an industry COVIDSafe Plan, you can operate your event within the permissions of the Restricted Activity Directions (Victoria) and under your COVIDSafe Plan if your business or organisation does not have a COVIDSafe Plan you will need to fill out and submit a COVIDSafe Event Checklist, and your event will still ne...ed to operate within the permissions of the Restricted Activity Directions (Victoria) https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/public-events-informatio See more

03.01.2022 Please be advised that the stage 4 "permitted work" list has now been updated (as of midnight last night)and has had several items removed. 03.01.2022 Why are paper towels preferred over hand dryers? Paper towels are preferable as they can reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 by drying the hands more thoroughly than hand dryers. Hand dryers can still be used, however, there is an increased risk of transmission if hands are not dried properly. I am providing paper towels in my workplace. What else should I do?... Providing paper towels to dry your hands after washing them is better than using hand dryers because they can dry your hands more thoroughly. If you provide single used paper towels at your workplace, remember: The paper towels should be replenished as required, and Used paper towels should be disposed of in a waste bin that is regularly emptied to keep the area clean, tidy and safe. Wastes (including used paper towels) should be double bagged and set aside in a safe place for at least 72 hours before disposal into general waste facilities. For further information regarding cleaning, please refer to our cleaning guide. What if I can’t provide paper towels? If paper towels cannot be provided, then hand dryers may be used to dry hands. You must train workers on how to dry their hands. Placing posters near hand dryers may assist with communicating the need for hands to be dried completely. If hands are not dried completely, good hygiene will not be achieved, and the hand washing will be ineffective. Frequently touched areas of the hand dryers (i.e. buttons to activate the drying mechanism of the hand dryer) and the entire body of the dryer should be cleaned regularly. Nearby surfaces (such as the sink and taps) should also be cleaned regularly to remove any germs that may have been spread when drying hands
