23.01.2022 Stop Swinging the Bar with this Tip We see it daily. You set up for the lift, start pulling from the ground, the bar then bounces off your thighs and you jump forward 6inches to catch the bar. Whatever you do, you can’t seem to stop jumping forward. You’ve heard all the cues like keep the bar close to your body, etc.... This drill/cue has worked great for our members over the years and we’d love to share it Next time you’re lifting, line your feet up on a line. And you’re not allowed to jump over the line. Having the external feedback will have you subconsciously keep the bar closer and prevent you from jumping forward. You are likely to see strength movements such as Deadlifts, Squats, Bench and Chins, as well as longer aerobic pieces, like 15-30mins in duration. 20.01.2022 The Story Behind CrossFit Athletic, now Be Athletic Established in 2009, CrossFit Athletic is the brain child of Christian D'Astoli and @Paul Walton. Working out of Fitness First, we always dreamed of owning our own facility one day.... With the fitness industry evolving at the time, the focus was functional training. Cables, Swiss balls and compound movements. CrossFit was underground, yet gaining popularity for its hard workouts and competitive nature. Our first taste of CrossFit style workouts came in 2008, when one of the other trainers at the gym would post the WOD on the whiteboard in the staff room. As trainers are some of the most competitive, they would go and try to beat each other. This style of training pushed buttons inside us that no other style of training had. In fact, it reminded us of the good old days playing competitive sport and training as a team! We both knew this style of training was special and we wanted to share it with others. It also got the best results for our clients at the time. We’d hit the jackpot, fun training that gets serious results. And it was addictive! Not long after, we did our Level 1, affiliated and opened the doors to 14 members in April 2010. As they say, the rest is history. Over the years, we've grown to have 4 owners, with the addition of @Pete Walton and @Enrico Massi, and had the pleasure of helping thousands of members achieve goals they thought impossible. Managed to visit the CrossFit Games, expanded locations and had 6 staff members go on to open up their own fitness facilities. 05.01.2022 When olympic lifting, keep the arms relaxed and use hook grip. If you don't use hook grip, you tend to grip the bar very tightly and pull early. By pulling early, you won't lift your full potential and will risk injury.
