20.01.2022 Today is World Mental Health Day. 1 in 5 Australians are affected by mental health illness, yet many don't seek help because of stigma. We can all do something to help shed a more positive light on mental health.... This year, we would like to see beyond the stigma and encourage everyone to make a #MentalHealthPromise. Examples include, "I promise to tell my close friends if I'm feeling unwell and needing support", "I promise to share ideas about maintaining mental wellbeing with my colleagues" or "I promise to empower others to talk about their own mental health". #BeatTheBreakdown
20.01.2022 Starting a conversation. Created and captured so beautifully by TIL Pictures. Matt's ability to portray a strong message with such heart is like no other. It tells the story of the Tomorrow Man and Tomorrow Woman workshops, an organisation that runs workshops across Australia encouraging better conversations and building emotional muscle. ... The funds raised by Beat the Breakdown go into these workshops and we wanted to give an insight to where the money has been going. We feel very privileged to have an incredible relationship with the Tomorrow Man and Tomorrow Woman team to ensure our communities' needs are met. Without your support we would not be able to do what we do, so thank you! If you are interested in making a donation, head to http://bit.ly/BTB2019Donate #mentalhealthawareness #suicideprevention

11.01.2022 #Repost @tomorrowman_au with @get_repost Uralla is in the drought-affected plains of northern NSW. Almost everyone has been impacted by the drought in some way. In the tight-knit group of lads at Uralla Central School, we spoke to one young bloke who spends his weekends jumping out of planes with only the help of a parachute (and a reserve parachute in case of emergency). . For many of the gents, being in a workshop like this is a similar experience. Your stomach churn...s, your legs shake, your mind tells you Don’t do this! It’s too much of a risk!. . But in the same way that their classmate dives headfirst out of the plane, these lads showed courage to dive in and speak with openness about the tough times they had recently been through. Each of them modelled exactly what courage looks like, by being honest about their own struggles. . They stepped to the line and took the leap, trusting their mates to support them like a parachute. We were there simply as a reserve, but we were hardly needed. . These young men are the next generation of rural blokes supporting our agricultural economy. The future is in good hands. - Rhett . Thanks to our awesome funder @BeattheBreakdown for making these workshops possible. . . #uralla #ruralaustralia #courage #stayconnected #secondandthirdquestions #toxicmasculinity #fragilemascultinity #realtalk #mentalwealth #trust #changethestats #support #bondingmoments #talkwithgravity #raisingteens #raisingboys #vulnerability #realman #healthmasculinity #menswellbeing #mentalhealthawareness #starttheconversation #positiveimpact #healthyminds #emotionalwellbeing #socialcapital #positiverolemodels #tomorrowmanworkshops See more
11.01.2022 19.11.2019 This #InternationalMensDay we recognise the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities. To celebrate positive role models and to raise awareness to men’s health issues. Thank you to all the amazing men out there!
11.01.2022 Today marks World Suicide Prevention Day. The theme of 2019 is 'shining a light’ on suicide prevention in Australia. It highlights the importance of speaking up, taking the time and listening. As well as continuing the momentum and harnessing the attention brought to this issue. We hope that everyone can reflect on that theme and take the time to have those important conversations in order to 'Beat the Breakdown'. ... The World Health Organization estimates that over 800,000 people die by suicide each year around the world that’s one person every 40 seconds. With those statistics, we must aim to break down the barriers and beat the stigma that surrounds starting that ever so important conversation. #BeatTheBreakdown #mentalhealthawareness #suicideprevention

05.01.2022 #Repost @tomorrowman_au with @get_repost The blokes of Armidale in NSW showed up to the bowls club for a no-holds-barred conversation about the current state of man. . An absolute powerhouse with a fire in his belly jumped up and emotionally spoke about losing his 20-year-old to suicide, three years ago. He spoke of how the loss has changed him for the better and of his son’s legacy, which continues to grow and flourish. ... . As a father of two little boys, this would be my biggest nightmare. And it should encourage us all to let our people know we love them every day and to foster environments of open, honest and mutual communication. - Ryder . Thanks to our awesome partners @BacktrackYouthworks, @BeattheBreakdown and @Gotcha4Life for making this workshop possible. .
