25.01.2022 Christmas can be hard for kids who can't live with their own families. Beaudesert Girl Guides have decided to get on board with this opportunity to show we care by giving an extra present under the tree. More than 9500 gifts are needed for kids in care and we are collecting gifts to help reach this total. If you would like to donate a gift to be included as part of our collection please get in touch. We are collecting gifts until Friday November 23 or alternatively you can dr...op gifts to Beaudesert Child Safety Service Centre until Friday Dec 6. Want to donate a gift, but not sure what to get? Think about what you might buy for your own child, niece or nephew? Gift vouchers make a great gift, particularly for teenagers. If you can't donate a gift in person, you can make a monetary donation through GIVIT. For more gift ideas or donation points, go to www.qld.gov.au/bringasmiletoachild #xmas4kidsincare @givit.

23.01.2022 We've got places available in our Junior ranks for new girls to join us. Girls aged 5-9 we'd love to welcome you! Guides get to develop life skills, confidence to think and act for themselves, respect for the environment and a sense of community. Meet new friends, adventure outdoors, do things for the community. And of course it's fun! Last year we participated in Clean Up Australia Day, donated toys to Kids in Care, cooked biscuits for the firies at Rathdowney, hiked at Wyar...along, camped several times at the hut and out near Ipswich, donated biscuits to local food pantries, marched in the Anzac Day Parade, sang songs around the campfire, built things, made things and much, much more. We meet on Friday evenings during school terms from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at our hut in Jane Street. You can try before you buy. The first few weeks are free. Just send us a message to find out more about how to get your daughter started

20.01.2022 Thanks so much 1st Ipswich Girl Guides for hosting a great day! We were proud to be part of it

18.01.2022 Some of the finds on our recent scavenger hunt around Beaudesert A special mention to Domino's Pizza Beaudesert for accommodating one of our finds without any prior warning. Our senior girls had an added challenge of having to first decode their route before they set off from the guide hut. So would you know where Anna met Jane? Or where they are Mighty Helpful? How about something that is short by name and short by nature? These were just a few of their clues ... Heaps of fun. Can’t wait to do another one!!

10.01.2022 As part of the International Day of the Girl celebrations in October and as a prelude to the WAGGGS Juliette Low leadership events which have kicked off around the world this week, our senior guides took up the challenge to #LeadOutLoud Sometimes leaders need to find the courage to speak up in front of others, and openly share their ideas with the world. Thus our girls were tasked to identify a change they wanted to see in the world and present this in a speech or video for...mat to our unit. We've put together a few little snippets for you to see how they went. Girl Guides is about many things, one of which is empowering and developing future women leaders. We've certainly got several future leaders up and coming through our ranks Great work girls!!! Girl Guides Queensland Girl Guides Australia #TeamGirl World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts

08.01.2022 We are so proud to have been able to support the annual Kids in Care Appeal with donations of gifts this year. The top left pic is a few of our Beaudesert girls and leaders handing over our collection to the lovely staff at Child Services in Beaudesert. Bravo girls

07.01.2022 Huge thanks to our Guides and helpers for stepping up to clean up on Friday evening for Clean Up Australia. We cleaned this same area in Beaudesert last year and are pleased to report there was significantly less rubbish this year - although a few serial offenders are still at work Once again thank you to everyone that came along to help (and the toots of encouragement from passing cars!) Hope you can all get out and do a little bit this weekend and every day really. Ever...y little bit matters. #CleanUpAustralia #StepUpToCleanUp #ReduceReuseRecycle

06.01.2022 Last weekend we had a great day building fires, doing Outdoor cooking and then having some Harry Potter experiments and fun. Guides is still going strong on Fridays from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. If you are interested please send us a pm or email us on [email protected]

05.01.2022 Our sincerest gratitude to Eagle Eye Signs & Graphics for their donation of a new sign for our premises in Jane Street. Your support means a lot and all of our girls, leaders and parents are very grateful! Thank you also to our Support Group who work tirelessly behind the scenes helping us manage our building and grounds so that we can give our girls the opportunities and experiences that we do. This is hopefully just the start of a few renovations to our grand old building and grounds over the coming months.

03.01.2022 We are so proud of our Guides that were able to pay their respects to those that have served and sacrificed on Anzac Day this year with #lightupthedawn. There are so many things we take for granted on a daily basis as we rush around in our busy lives, yet so many of those things have come at a very great price. Taking the time to pause, reflect and remember is the very least we can do to display our gratitude. Despite the covid-19 interruptions, our guides have still been working on their "Saluting their Service" Anzac badge this year by working through and completing a variety of defence force themed activities (including an online camp last weekend). Each year there is a new "Saluting Their Service" badge to work towards and the challenges adapt and change to suit the various ages and needs of the girl.
