24.01.2022 Please meet Karen Ashby, our fantastic and very dedicated Skipton Podiatrist. "I have been a Podiatrist for nearly twenty years now and still enjoy the profession as much as I did when I started. Feet are definitely not considered the glamorous end of the body, but they play such a huge role in our function, mobility and comfort. Podiatry is so varied in what we do, from helping someone with a sore corn or ingrown toenail, to enabling someone to get walking/running again w...ith footwear advice or orthotics. I love seeing people of all ages and love the impact we can have on reducing pain and improving function. I am so lucky to work within such a beautiful community and organisation, and think I enjoy the chat with my clients as much as the work!" If you would like to make an appointment to see Karen or Christian, our Podiatrists, please call our Skipton office on 5340 1101 or the Beaufort office on 5349 1610.

19.01.2022 DIABETES: NURSES MAKE THE DIFFERENCE World Diabetes Day is 14th November 2020. The theme is The Nurse and Diabetes. The campaign aims to raise awareness around the crucial role that nurses play in supporting people living with diabetes. Nurses currently account for over half of the global health workforce. They do outstanding work to support people living with a wide range of health concerns. People who either live with diabetes or are at risk of developing the condition need... their support too. People living with diabetes face a number of challenges, and education is vital to equip nurses with the skills to support them. As the number of people with diabetes continues to rise across the world, the role of nurses and other health professional support staff becomes increasingly important in managing the impact of the condition. Healthcare providers and governments must recognise the importance of investing in education and training. With the right expertise, nurses can make the difference for people affected by diabetes. 13.01.2022 Nikki Elliot (Leisure and Lifestyle Co-ordinator at Skipton) came up with a fantastic idea to create 'Yarn Bombing Displays' for the front entrances of our hospitals. This has been an amazing effort by staff, residents and community members including the Skipton Kinder children, to get involved and be creative. Thank you to all involved for adding a bit of colour and fun for everyone to enjoy.
