18.01.2022 Vale Mick Wearne 1953 - 2020 After a long battle with cancer, BFC Life Member Mick Wearne passed away on Saturday morning. Our condolences and deepest sympathies go out to his wife Jenny, son Alex, daughter Dani and his extended family.... Mick’s CV with the Sharks commenced in 1970 when he played sixteen games with the U/17’s and then continued for another 154 games as a Senior player until 1982. He was also Assistant Coach to Damien McGrath as they took the U/14’s to a finals berth in 1981 & then a Premiership in 1982. Mick was also on the Senior Committee in 1984. He later became involved with the U/10’s as Assistant Coach in 2006 and continued that role for four years before Coaching the U/14’s & U/15’s in 2010 & ’11 and then again supporting the coaching panel in 2012 &’13 with the highlight being an U/17 Flag in 2013, which featured his son Alex. Mick’s involvement with the Sharks spanned over 50 years. He was incredibly loyal and dedicated to the cause and during that time he developed many close friendships within the Sharks Family and the Beauy Community. Mick his pictured here with his beloved daughter Dani on the day he received his Life Membership back in December 2017. This year Dani was due to play in the BFC Senior Womens team, only for the season to be cancelled. There's no doubt Mick would have been enormously proud to see his daughter in a Senior team wearing the Blue & Gold. Mick, thank you for the memories.

14.01.2022 Congratulations to former BFC Junior Joel Amartey who made his AFL debut for the Sydney Swans yesterday against the Brisbane Lions. Joel had a tremendous first game and certainly made a very good impression. Joel was part of the premiership winning U17 Div 1 team for Beauy in 2016, a star studded team that were dominant in that season. That year Joel came 4th in the SMJFL B&F. ... Joel went on to play for the Sandy Dragons, eventually being drafted by Sydney joining other former Beauy players, Cal Sinclair, Oli Florent & Hayden McLean in the Swans squad. The club would like to congratulate Joel on this tremendous achievement. Go Sharks!

13.01.2022 VALE MATTHEW PITMAN The Beaumaris Football Club would like to extend its sincere condolences to the Pitman Family on the passing of their beloved Matthew. Mathew has passed away after an extended and brave battle with cancer.... He is survived by his loving wife Pauline and adored children Alex and Jemma. The Pitman family were not with the club for a long time, but made a significant contribution to our fabric. Alex embraced the club by assisting at Auskick, playing for the Sharks, and acting as a water boy for the seniors. Both Pauline and Matthew immersed themselves into our football club always eager to take on jobs or assist. Our door will be forever open to the Pitman family and we extend to them all the love and support they need over this difficult time.

12.01.2022 On Saturday night Jack Newnes set the football alight with his amazing match winning, post siren goal, kicked from the sideline to give Carlton a memorable come from behind victory against Fremantle. It is the stuff dreams are made off. This may be of little recompense to all the BFC supporters out there who barrack for the Saints - and we know there are many. However back in June 2017, Jack, along with his then team mate Tim Membrey, came down to Oak Street one Saturday morn...ing to assist Senior BFC girls Pip Atkins and Katrina Bateman with AusKick. It was a memorable day and one that Stacey and her Auskick kids will remember for a long time. Not withstanding, Jack and Tim proved to be very popular, as did Pip and Katrina. So we'd like to congratulate Jack on his feat and wish him and Tim all the best for the rest of their AFL careers. (PS: this post comes with apologies to Freo supporters) Go Sharks! #Saints #JackNewnes #TimMembrey #BeaumarisAusKick #BeaumarisFootballClub

07.01.2022 Two Beauie boys snap up big awards at the Hawks B&F. Last night former BFC Juniors Jack Gunston and Jack Scrimshaw won major awards the Hawthorn virtual B&F. Jack Gunston completed a double by winning 'Most Consistent' and the prized Peter Crimmins Medal for club 'Best & Fairest', while Jack Scimshaw won ‘Most Improved Player’.... It was a great year for Jack Gunston who came 3rd in the Coleman medal and earned an All-Australian nomination. Coach Alastair Clarkson paying tribute to Jack said, He tackled the challenges of this season with a great attitude and this reflected in his on-field performances. He stepped up for us on countless occasions throughout the season and was the side’s most consistent performer. Jack Scrimshaw received his award from Hawks Development coach Andy Otten who praised Jack’s tenacity, his determination and his ability to intercept mark, one of the games' most important assets for any player. In accepting the award Jack reflected, I put my head down over the break we had for COVID and made it my mission to get back in the side. The coaching staff and fitness staff put in a great program for me over the break, and they made sure I gave myself every opportunity. BFC Juniors President Nicki Spencer paid tribute on behalf of the BFC: On behalf of the 700 + BFC Juniors, congratulations to the two Jacks on their performance at Hawthorns Best and Fairest.
