24.01.2022 Last week we showed a Red Ruby from Ceylon. Today, lets look at a stone that has a more typical Ruby "look", the Burmese Ruby. Burmese Rubies command, at times, quite astonishing prices for their size; in 2015 a 26 carat Burmese Ruby sold for an astounding 30 million dollars. That said, we dont stock 26 carat Rubies, but more, regularly sized and priced stones. Try this 0.64 carat Burmese Ruby for instance!... https://www.beautgems.com.au//pr/0-64-carat-burma-red-ruby

24.01.2022 Check out this Tanzanite! I thought it looked pretty bright in a lightbox, but when I took it outside... WOW! https://www.beautgems.com.au//products/2-81-carat-tanzanite

24.01.2022 When you can hold a gemstone inside without any additional lighting - and it lights up, you know you have a real nice stone! This particular stone is a 1.07 carat Australian Parti Sapphire. https://www.beautgems.com.au//1-07-carat-australia-bi-colo You can't go wrong with this stone - it is one of those exceptional versatile gems which suit many styles of jewellery!

23.01.2022 This week we are looking at Spessartites, and yesterday we looked at a burnt Orange stone. Lets go to the other end of the colour scale and look at a sunburst Orange stone! Here we have an interesting shape in this 1.39 carat gemstone from Nigeria! It would certainly make for an interesting ring design, or a great pendant! https://www.beautgems.com.au//1-39-carat-orange-spessartite

22.01.2022 A Burmese Spinel is both a highly rare and valuable gemstone... If you wanted something truly unique for a piece of jewellery which you know nobody else has, you can't go wrong with a Pink Burmese Spinel! https://www.beautgems.com.au//products/1-81-carat-burma-pi

22.01.2022 Maybe you would like a bright Blue Sapphire for a pendant, but dont want to break the bank? Try this Blue Kyanite from Nepal! https://www.beautgems.com.au//2-27-carat-nepal-blue-kyanite

21.01.2022 Its not often you can come across a gemstone that is over 19.5 carats, is only found in one place on Earth and, costs less than $1000 to boot! Ametrine is a fantastic gemstone, which the market has started noticing. As the name implies, it is a combination stone where both Amethyst and Citrine have formed together within the same Quartz crystal. This 19.52 carat emerald cut piece is highly affordable, as well as being highly versatile. https://www.beautgems.com.au//19-52-carat-bi-colour-purple

21.01.2022 We havent looked at Mexican Fire Opals in a while, so lets change that! Here is a 3.06 carat stone. It has been polished, but other than that, no treatments have been performed on the stone. The best part about these gems is that, no matter what direction you are looking at them, you always get a brilliant display of colour when outside! https://www.beautgems.com.au///3-06-carat-mexico-fire-opal https://www.youtube.com/watch

16.01.2022 This week, lets try something different, something bright and cheery, something... Orange! Yes, I am talking about Spessartite Garnets! Spessartite or Spessartine, depending on who you talk to, is a variety of Garnet highly prized for its bright Orange and Red-Orange hues. It is primarily found in Africa, chiefly from Nigeria. As with all Garnets, it is quite a dense stone, so the carat weight goes up quite quickly as the dimensions increase. Spessartites range in colo...ur from a sunburst Yellow, to an even bright Orange, to a deep, rich Red-Orange almost like the dying embers of a fire. Mandarin Spessartite Garnet is the more precious colour - it has that perfect balance of Orange, not too Red and not too Yellow, just perfect! It also commands the highest prices too. Spessartite is also one of those stones highly suited for use in rings, due to the intensity of its colour, hardness and overall appearance! So come on over and check out our Spessartite page! https://www.beautgems.com.au/collections/spessartite

16.01.2022 Sphene is a bright and fiery little stone... how about it? https://www.beautgems.com.au//products/1-24-carat-madagasc

16.01.2022 This is a Colour Change Garnet from Madagascar. The stone changes from a Greenish-Blue in fluorescent light to a Pinkish-Purple in incandescent light. It is quite a nice stone! https://www.beautgems.com.au//0-73-carat-madagascar-colour

15.01.2022 Emeralds can be a bit of a tricky stone to use in rings... Fortunately there are other bright Green stones to use! Have a look at this 1.31 carat Tsavorite Garnet! https://www.beautgems.com.au//1-31-carat-kenya-green-tsavo

11.01.2022 We have looked at Darker and Lighter Spessartites, now lets look at one of the more ideal coloured Spessartites. This stone is almost, what people would call a Mandarin Spessartite - that perfect Orange colour with no hints of anything else. To that end it is also at the pinnacle of demand and prices as such on the market. Whats more, this particular entry will be the first in the category to have a video of its own, in daylight to really show off how bright and vibrant the stone is. https://www.beautgems.com.au//3-08-carat-nigeria-orange-sp

11.01.2022 Sapphires are fantastic for use in Rings, due to their hardness, brightness and clarity! Take this Ceylon Blue Sapphire for instance: https://www.beautgems.com.au//1-19-carat-ceylon-blue-sapph

11.01.2022 I have seen many Ceylon Blue Sapphires, few are as good as this! https://www.beautgems.com.au//0-92-carat-ceylon-blue-sapph

09.01.2022 This is a great example of an Australian Bi-colour Sapphire, also known as a Parti Sapphire. https://www.beautgems.com.au//0-96-carat-australia-bi-colo

09.01.2022 There are many great Yellow stones, but Australian Yellow Sapphires... They are something else entirely. A great Yellow Sapphire has that perfect brightness and colour that few stones even come close to approaching. Furthermore they are perfect for use in rings due to their hardness! Simply take one outside and bask in the sheer GLOW of the stone! Take it from me, there are very few stones that I have seen that really exemplify the ideal Yellow gemstone outside of Australian Yellow Sapphires. This Australian Yellow Sapphire is 1.53 carats, measures 7.7mm x 6.8mm and costs $918.00 AUD. https://www.beautgems.com.au//1-53-carat-australia-yellow-

03.01.2022 Mexican Fire Opal is one of those special Opal varieties which is bright no matter what direction you are looking at the stone - even from behind! This makes it fantastic for use in pendants or earrings, as there is no point where the stone goes inert. https://www.beautgems.com.au///1-23-carat-mexico-fire-opal

03.01.2022 Not all gemstones in jewellery need to be large - a small jewel can look absolutely fantastic, when used properly. You could take this little 0.52 carat Madagascan Purple Sapphire, and build it up with a series of Diamonds accenting it in a ring to create a highly unique and eye catching piece! https://www.beautgems.com.au//0-52-carat-madagascar-purple

02.01.2022 Friday! At last, we come to the end of our Spessartite week! Next week we will be looking at a very interesting stone which has captured the imagination of many. For now, check out this fantastic Red Spessartite. This is one of our largest Spessartites, and looks just incredible when viewed on the video - the stone lights up spectacularly when taken outside! https://www.beautgems.com.au//4-56-carat-nigeria-red-spess

01.01.2022 Sometimes there are gemstones that you simply have not heard of (or even known were possible!). Heres a great example! This is a variety of Quartz from Tanzania, known as Strawberry Quartz. Much like Confetti Sunstone, the red platelets within the material are Ferrous (Iron) particles. This has all the advantages of Quartz, being quite hard, highly transparent, and extremely affordable! Theres even the added fact that Strawberry Quartz is not exactly common! https://www.beautgems.com.au//1-25-carat-tanzania-strawber
