24.01.2022 "To spend time with Peter is to embark on a quest into truth that will take you below the surface, into surprising, breathtaking, perhaps fearful places that aren’t simply closer than you ever realized, they are actually enmeshed in your everyday" Colin Buchanan

22.01.2022 Join us to hear stories from Pete Volkofsky poet, storyteller, and long-term member and director with Cornerstone Community Australia. Pete will be touring NSW and Victoria this September and October to launch his new book A Beautiful Quest

09.01.2022 ‘There are whispers of vast red plains and fathomless night skies in these reflections: wide open spaces, unhurried time, gritty tears, depth and winsomeness, all of which are desperately needed in the world of ‘spiritual’ thought today. What if dogma, extremism and self-righteousness are just distractions from the real business of getting our hands dirty and our worldview stretched, of entering into real life with real people and learning to find God there? Peter Volkofsky invites us into this place, where he has lived for decades and it is well-worth joining him.’ Nerida Cuddy

05.01.2022 Join Pete tonight in Bendigo. Phone Sam Walker on 0488 624 001 for the details and address. If you have no idea who Pete is, or what the Beautiful Quest is, then even more reason to check it out!

05.01.2022 Pete sharing his insights and stories last Saturday night from the Beautiful Quest

05.01.2022 'Who would ever have thought that a democratic, secular society could become a proselytizer’s paradise? It makes no sense, unless of course the secular/democratic lifestyle is starving our kids of spiritual food. In that case they are going to devour whatever spiritual junk food is on offer. 'In our fool’s paradise we congratulate ourselves because we don’t have a text called ‘The Koran’ or a sacred cow called ‘Jihad’ but what about the text called ‘My Opinion’ and the sacred... cow called ‘My Life.’ Once ‘My Opinion’ is ‘My Authority,’ I become a kind of ‘Western Fundamentalist’ launching a ‘My Life’ suicide attack on the world. The consequences are all around us. 'The fact is we need each other because learning happens best in the context of a robust and open community. But it must be a community that values history, spirituality, critical thought, reason and submission to fact. This way, instead of arguing for a win like a spoilt child, we argue for truth and follow the evidence and the argument wherever it leads.18 'So take the plunge. Humbly give yourself to learning, especially from those who disagree with you. It’s highly likely for example, that God is one of those who disagree with you, even when you vow and declare you know him and love him.' (excerpt from Beautiful Quest, 3.6 'The Swallow and The Barn Cat') 18 The principle of ‘following the argument wherever it leads’, was given much impetus by The Oxford Socratic Club when it was formed in December 1941, at Oxford University. The society decided to go with Socrates’ practice of "following the argument wherever it leads."
