Every skin clinic in the state is devastated. As an industry highly regulated and educated in infection control both pre and post covid, we are absolutely flabbergasted that we are unable to operate - considering treating the face for most of us make up 90 - 95% of our services. We don’t have a date. Ev...en 0.2 average cases in regional Victoria are not enough for us to be opened. You can visit a pub without a mask. You can go to the gym without a mask. You can visit a restaurant without a mask. You can hire an escort or get a sensual massage without a mask. But NO. You cannot get a treatment for your acne?? A dentist can work on a patients mouth by using a double barrier (operator wearing a mask and a shield) Home Care workers can attend personal care by wearing a mask and a shield. Injectors can perform injectables on the lips whilst wearing just a mask. CoVid testers safely test 1000s of Victorians without a single transmission by wearing a mask and a shield. And yet you cannot have a skin treatment on the face. We can create a safe environment for clients by wearing 2 layers of protection so that our clients don’t have to. We are NOT Beauty Parlours. Premier, we demand you reopen our industry immediately to full capacity and with very comprehensive Covid safe plans and education. 03.01.2022 Why are EFA’s (Essential Fatty Acids) so important? Whether you are suffering from acne, dry skin, impaired barrier or concerned about ageing we all need to supplement with EFA’s. Our bodies can not synthesis EFA’s so we must look to diet & supplements. Diet alone is usually not enough. EFA’s can improve the quality of sebum/oil. When the sebaceous oil gland is producing a thick & gluggy oil this can cause blockages in the skin ie congestion & pimples. By improving the qual...ity of oil production to a more smooth & free flowing liquid this will help to reduce the blockages and intern ease the congestion & pimples. EFA’s are also important for a healthy cell membrane which is the wall that surrounds our cells often referred to as the ‘Gate Keeper’. It is the gate keepers job to lock/trap moisturiser in the skin but also to keep the bad buys out ie bacteria & pathogens. When this action is not functioning correctly we end up with dehydrated cells which intern accentuates the signs of ageing (lines & wrinkles) and speeds up the ageing process. EFA’s are also anti-inflammatory so very important if you suffer from eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis.
