Lemon oil is phytotoxic and causes the skin to ...be more sensitive to the UV rays. It can also trigger hyper-pigmentation. We do however use Hydrolyzed Lemon Extract Protein which has an anti-tyrosinase activity (anti-browning/de-pigmentation activity). This is a natural extract, rather than a synthetic extract which will be more effective on the skin and won't cause any irritation.
