23.01.2022 I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER ACCEPT THAT I HAVE BEEN CALLED NON ESSENTIAL. A word that has made me fume, cry, vommit and rage. Beauty salons are an essential service for aesthetic reasons and mental health. I have never had so many messages, emails and phone calls about skin issues, eyebrows, feelings of not wanting to be seen in public, lack of confidence, suffering body image and clients wanting to speak to someone about personal concerns they may not want to tell a cou...ncillor or a shop assistant at Woolworths. I’m deeply saddened by the roadmap for Victoria revealing beauty salons will be last on the list to open up when people need us! Not necessarily the men who run the government but what about all of us who consider it essential to have our bikini line waxed before we go to the public pool that opens in late September? What about those of us who have unruly eyebrows as they are the part of our face we see when we are covered and suffocating in a mask? what about those of us who have disfiguring acne or sensitive skin being irritated AF by this mandatory mask wearing. My clients are screaming out for help and there is limited I can do with my doors shut since March this year. ‘Non essential’ to me means no one really gives a shit about beauty salons but us woman need them!
