22.01.2022 4 Top Tips to help prevent post massage DOMS (Delayed onset muscle soreness) Think of a massage as a mini workout at the gym involving every single muscle in your body! Just like after a gym session it is normal to feel a little sore for a day or 2 but these 5 tips should help ease you back into full recovery in no time!... 1. Rehydrate - During a massage toxins will be moved around the body and fluid will be removed from the muscles into the vascular system. It is important we are flushing away any toxins and replacing lost fluids. Avoid caffeine, alcohol and sugary drinks for the rest of the day. 2. Keep warm - Take a warm shower within 30 minutes of a massage to stop your body feeling cold and muscles starting to shiver and spasm. Also wrap up well using layers for the rest of the day/night. 3. Gentle stretches - During a massage tissues and muscles are pulled away from one another, creating a sense of relaxed looseness. When we stretch after a massage session we maintain this looseness in the muscles and the tissues while also keeping joints mobile. 4. - Book another session soon! Long gaps between massages can result in more soreness as our bodies are no longer used to the movements. Try and book regular massage sessions for best and prolonged results. 21.01.2022 Be:blessed Massage Therapy is back in business!! I will be taking every step necessary to ensure the safety and peace of mind of all my clients. I will be: (as I was already doing) *Washing my hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds between every client.... *Wipe down any surface with antibacterial solution that has been touched or may have been touched by you or myself. *Change my towels between each client and ensure that they are washed in hot water with detergent before using them again. *Sending out a COVID risk factor message to all clients before treatment. To assist me in this I would appreciate your help and support with the following: *Ask you to wash your hands with soap and water before your massage. *Provide your own towels where possible. *Cancel your appointment if you are unwell, have traveled overseas in the last 14 days or have been in contact with a confirmed or suspected case of COVID 19. *Balance transfers or tap and go are preferred payment options. I only spent 10 minutes with each patient but the physical contact and love was always warmly welcomed. At a time where we may be craving some physical touch in our lives a simple hand massage may speak volumes. ... 20.01.2022 After much prayer and consideration I have made a personal decision to cease massaging during this time. Concern for my clients is my top priority and the risk of passing COVID-19 between clients and friends is to high. I have spent my day thinking about how I can help and support my community during this time without having physical contact with them.... 18.01.2022 Sore feet!? With many of us being confined to our homes for most of the day walking and running seems to be the new ‘in trend’! But are you looking after your feet?? Yesterday, I took 20 minutes out to give my feet a well deserved foot spa! A bath works just as well. A few drops of doTERRA peppermint oil did the job just fine and my feet still feet smooth and relaxed today. ... 12.01.2022 Missing your foot massage? Try a massage ball... A massage ball is a hard round, smooth or spiky ball a bit like a baseball. (A tennis ball is to soft)... Use the image to guide you. Carry out each movement slowly applying as much pressure as possible into the ball. Repeat daily and monitor results. Standing or sitting on a chair place the ball under one foot. (Ensure you are stable) Use the ball to roll slowly up and down both the medial and lateral longitudinal arches and also down the centre of the foot from the ball to the toes. This may be sore on day 1 but will feel better each day as you loosen the tissues. Next roll the ball along the anterior transverse arch from your big toe to little and back. Curl your toes and straighten them when you are adjacent to each toe. Do this slowly. Lastly place the ball at the mid point of the heel of your foot and put more weight on the foot. Hold for 30 seconds Move on to other foot and start again from the beginning. Let me know how you get on or if you have any questions. Bec

06.01.2022 Headaches Before we look at the treatment let’s think about the cause. Remember prevention is always better then cure... Keep a journal - When do you get the headaches ? How long do they last? How often? Do they occur after a day at work? Looking at a screen? The day after a heavy gym session ? Early in the morning or when you are dehydrated? Start keeping notes and track your headaches this will help you and your GP or health care professionals narrow down the cause.... Most headaches fall into one of three categories Tension headaches Migraines Cluster headaches. Over this week we will be looking at each type of headache in more detail with some suggestions on how to not just ease them but also ways to prevent them occurring in the 1st place.

04.01.2022 2020 has shown me once again how blessed I am to have such amazing, supportive clients (and friends) who have stuck by me and trusted me as their massage therapist to keep them relaxed and safe during a year of uncertainty and unknowns. Most of you know that in 2021 my family and I will be moving into MissionHouse, a house to help vulnerable people in need. (More information below) ... I look forward to sharing this journey with you once we have settled into our new rhythm of life, living in the community we feel led to serve and love. For now we would like to wish you all a quiet and healthy New Year and thank you for your love, support and grace during what was a challenging year for all.

Our family were blessed with our beautiful foster daughter in February and I have been privileged to spend the year watching and helping her become the little determined, independent, food loving woman she is.
