25.01.2022 GLOOP! Todays gloop experience was extremely messy but so much fun! The texture of gloop is unlike any other - hard when poked but then soft and slimy when you slowly sink your hands in. The children were so intrigued by this new feeling in their hands. The bonus is its totally edible making it safe for all children to enjoy. Just mix cornflower, water and a drop of food dye. 24.01.2022 ICE TRAY We spent this morning exploring these pom-pom ice cubes. Archie was busy trying to grip and suck the ice cubes to get to the pom-poms. We will be altering this experience later this week to make it totally edible! 22.01.2022 PASTA AND TAPE We’ve done a similar experience but using bigger items. This time we’ve used raw pasta to focus on developing our fine motor skills as they try to pick off the tape to get to the pasta. 22.01.2022 Early educators have been on the frontline during this crisis, educating and caring for our children. But it has also been a tremendously difficult time for the... sector, as a lack of government funding has left many providers struggling to keep their doors open and families without the care they need. Ive been (virtually!) meeting with educators, providers and families from across Australia about the challenges they are facing. Its been so valuable to hear their stories, and to discuss together what the child care system must look like going forward. These discussions have helped me to advocate on behalf of the sector, and urge the government to put in place a system that meets demand, keep providers viable and ensures families have accessible and affordable care. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to speak with me, and a big thank you to all the local MPs for arranging and taking part in these meetings. 19.01.2022 BI CARB + VINEGAR This little science experiment can be done in so many different ways. Yesterday we decided to keep it simple using coloured vinegar in squeezy shampoo travel bottles and vinegar laid out flat in the tray. 18.01.2022 TASTE SAFE SAND This taste safe sand has a similar texture to kenetic sand. It was soft but held its shape to make moulds. We made half a batch to begin with (2 cups flour, 1/4 cup vegetable oil). This experience allowed the children to explore a different texture to what we usually play with. They were able to squeeze, mould, flatten and let it fall between their little fingers. 16.01.2022 BALLS Archie and Sage both had the opportunity to grab and reach the balls today. The balls for Archie were taped up on the wall for him to practice standing and balancing, while Sages’ balls were taped on the floor to encourage her to reach and grab. This experience helps Sage strengthen her neck muscles as she hold herself up as well as her coordination, grasp and upper body strength. Every day during this p...andemic, educators have been doing the vital work of educating and caring for our children. What has the Government done in return? First they put the burden onto educators and providers by failing to fund "free child care" properly. And now, rather than fix their failed system, theyve decided to rip Jobkeeper away from the sector. The Minister must guarantee no early educator will lose their job as a result of the Governments decisions.

The aim is to pull the cloths out, however Sage was just so amused with the sound of the packet. 06.01.2022 CHIA SEED SENSORY PLAY This tasty experience was enjoyed by all the little ones today. They used the little utensils to explore the chia seeds and try and get it into their mouths. Surprisingly Archie loved the taste and texture in his mouth! Sage was also able to engage with this experience on her tummy with some of the mixture on the mat. The chia seeds were prepared the night before. 2-3 tbs in a bowl with 2 cups water, covered in glad wrap. Drain excess water the next day with a thin strainer and enjoy!
