25.01.2022 "My Boat Gone" Storytime: This piece was made for a seriously awesome family from Perth.... The story of the piece is told by their young daughter. They often travel down south, and on this particular trip they hired a boat and went to a little island. While on the island they were having a great time when their daughter only a few years old, said out of the blue, "My Boat Gone". They laughed, confused, when they suddenly realised that their boat had literally floated away. Dad jumped up swam out and thankfully retrieved the boat! Or it would have been a much more painful story to remember rather than a laugh! Lucky she said those words! And at such a young age... The perfect name for this piece. Together we planned it to make sure it really incorporated some key things: West Australian Colours Aerial photography abstract styling And that they felt connected to it. At the moment my art is getting framed and named!... Then I can upload and then make the website live! Up until now I usually sell at art markets and then through Instagram. But its so hard to share my wall art because its so big and I cant display them all! So the website is like a gallery for me which Im lovin! 14.01.2022 Do you know, the number ONE best thing about this picture? Well... They were my first time and my instant addiction to paint pouring I was not in a good place, mentally/physically from working in crisis accommodation and around high levels of trauma. I got very sick for nine months with illnesses/infections and doctors didn't know what was wrong. Turns out I was just incredibly run down.... I am fairly sure I have a level of ADHD, I think many of us do. We get impatient with meditation/painting/switching off etc. I was pretty addicted to the rush work gave me, adrenaline and little sleep, being needed, working hard, eating badly. But then I tried fluid art, and for a bit of prep BOOM kachinga! I made colourful, creative, exciting, abstract art! And the most important thing, I slowed down. These were my first ever pours. I am now incredible chilled! Barely ever run on adrenaline anymore. Always learning new skills to navigate this crazy world. Happiness is definitely an inside job Force time for the things which make your soul shine and you won't be able to wipe the smile from your face I think it's good to just do a tiny bit of art and craft everyday. ... Cause then it's less of an, "I'm gonna do that next month when I have a full day" And more of a... "I'm gonna prep this now cause I have thirty minutes, and I can pick it up again tomorrow cause I have thirty minutes then too" When I started thinking like that I created so much more. I used to create art 45 minutes before I had to leave for work! And that way I was making to my little hearts content It worked for me it made me happier. 09.01.2022 "Wild souls like calm places" My favourite large resin piece I have ever made. This beauty went to the a lovely local beach couple . He asked for it to be created for her. We spoke about the piece to plan the colours which would be of our coastal surroundings. ... I made two pieces for good measure, I really wanted to get it right. One piece was wild waves and this one, calm. He said "she is wild so that one suits her" but we agreed that wild souls like calm places. We are all a mix of the two opposing forces. Chaos and order. And the best relationships are those where you fit them together. I am so lucky to have my missing piece that balances me too Time to create another one of these. Shoot me your ideas?? 05.01.2022 Without you guys, and the relaxing bliss art has brought me, I wonder how different things could be. Would I still be working around the clock at a crisis centre falling apart? On call 24/7 and dealing with intense trauma daily thinking that was all for me (I loved it, but it was taxing), that I had nothing to share online that anyone would like. Rewind four years ago, I was hiding my creations away and never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I'd would hold many ar...t markets, make memories with travellers and locals who support my art and go online and make a course to teach people my style! Whether it's after the fog of adolescence, abuse or just feeling like we are living our lives for others and not ourselves. Learning to say no, learning to put you first, learning to make choices which reflect our inner selves and not what society expects of you. For me this was, trusting to invest in my own art and business, and stepping away from working full time in social services. Having an incredibly supportive network and other half Learning how to communicate more effectively, manage anxieties and health and changing life to make me happier and not making choices because I think it's what society expects of me. And of course healing from the pain of burning the candle at both ends for a long time. Repairing ongoing mentally and physically - and taking things slow when we need to. (Lots of sleep ) haha This piece was painted around the time where I was feeling both anxious and positive about change at the same time.
