25.01.2022 As part of my plan to reduce my waste even further, I have decided to start making my own bottled goods. This is a freshly squeezed green apple, ginger and lemon juice! (Paired perfectly with a midweek gin ;)) I have been making conscious efforts to minimise my footprint, and some weeks I do not make any waste at all! I compost all of my food scraps, recycle everything I can, and make as much of my own food where possible. Look up The Great Pacific Garbage Patch to und...erstand why minimising your waste is important (hint - it is 3 x the size of France, and contains nearly 2 trillion pieces of plastic; which equates to 250 pieces per human in the world). Reducing your waste also cuts out a lot of crap that we are exposed to daily - reducing packed items reduces your exposure to additives, colours, pesticides and preservatives, and also environment chemicals and toxins Please, share any tips you might have to reduce your footprint! 22.01.2022 Monthly temperature and mucus changes can tell you A LOT about what is going on with your hormones. It can let you know if you have ovulated, or have possible hormonal imbalances (like PCOS or low progesterone), and can also identify early miscarriages! The menstrual cycle is fascinating, it is incredible what our bodies do each month, and it is even more fascinating when you know exactly what is going on each month! I highly recommend tracking your period for at leas...t 3 months - you can download a chart online, or feel free to DM me for my version. Tracking your cycle requires taking your temperature at the same time every morning (shortly after waking; set an alarm - especially on weekends!), and feeling your mucus to determine changes of consistency. Fertile mucus will be similar consistency to egg white - clear and sticky! This type of mucus helps to draw in the sperm in hope of fertilisation; it is full of glycogen, which the sperm can use as a fuel to power its way up to the fallopian tube Please note, tracking your period whilst on hormonal contraception is not possible, as hormonal contraception 'turns off' ovulation, and you will not have cyclical changes in mucus or temperature as you aren't having a cycle! 20.01.2022 ATTN VEGETARIANS & SPINACH LOVERS oxalates are found in many popular plant foods, and unfortunately can have a negative effect in the body in certain individuals. It isn't clear why some people are affected more than others, however it has been correlated with genetics, the health of the gut (particularly low levels of a bacteria called O. formigenes, and leaky gut syndrome), nutrient insufficiency, and oxidative stress Oxalic acids bind to key nutrients, and can cause... a whole range of effects like gastrointestinal changes, mood & cognition changes, pain, headaches, migraines, kidney & urinary issues. If you are experiencing these symptoms, and are eating foods high in oxalates (swipe left!), you may want to consider lowering your intake. Please note: avoiding all oxalate foods at once can cause something called 'dumping' - which can cause an increase of symptoms - slowly reduce oxalate foods is recommended to reduce dumping side effects See more

20.01.2022 SWIPE for recipe! Okay, I'm a sucker for a sweet brekky! This is one of my favourites - homemade banana bread made on gluten free chickpea flour (high protein & great nutritional value!), ricotta (high protein again and a source of healthy fats), blueberries (antioxidants), and a drizzle of honey and cinnamon! I choose buffalo ricotta, as buffalo products contain more of the anti-inflammatory A2 casein (which is a protein), compared to regular cows milk ricotta - which contains mostly A1 casein - and is considered an inflammatory food.

01.01.2022 Dysfunctional testosterone metabolism can be a problem in those suffering from the listed symptoms. DHT is a potent hormone, and is considered a 'true' androgen, as it cannot convert to estrogen (testosterone, the precursor to DHT, can!). DHT is an androgen that functions moreso for males than females - it is highest in adolescence, and promotes puberty. However, more and more females are experiencing high levels of DHT in adult life. This can cause an increase in sebaceo...us gland activity - leading to acne, increase in facial (especially chin & lip) and pubic hair growth, and can lead to male pattern baldness in both males and females. In males, an increase in DHT in adulthood is also associated with increased prostate growth. So why do some people experience higher levels of DHT? Not one answer can be given - it can be due to a dysfunction in the feedback loops of the hormonal cycle, genetic influences, low levels of estrogen, stress, excessive exercise & testosterone synthesis, nutritional deficiencies/excesses, and androgen disrupting environmental toxins and chemicals If you have a hormonal condition, functional testing allows you to look at the various hormone pathways using something called the DUTCH test - this test is such a great tool to help take the guess work out of hormones, and to improve treatment!
