23.01.2022 We're bombarded with so many social media and advertising messages each day that it's easy to feel like our homes should look as perfect as a show home. But our homes are exactly that - our homes. People actually live there. The goal of decluttering and organising should be to make your home more functional and feel lighter and calmer for your family - not to be Pinterest-perfect.
20.01.2022 The 80/20 rule (aka Pareto principle) is useful when decluttering a space. Did you know that, generally speaking, you use only 20% of your stuff 80% of the time? This means you wear roughly 20% of your clothes and shoes 80% of the time. Same in the kitchen - only 20% of your utensils, crockery, bakeware, etc is used most of the time. What could you let go of today, knowing that it is rarely used?
20.01.2022 I was overwhelmed and exhausted by managing our household. It turns out that getting rid of our clutter changed our family's life in more ways than expected. Read more: www.becomingorganised.com.au//the-four-surprising-things-t
19.01.2022 A new year often motivates people to set healthy eating goals. But after a long day, who has the energy to decide what's for dinner, prepare and cook a meal, and clean the dishes? Today I set myself up the week by meal prepping for the week ahead. In 2.5 hours, I... prepped vegies for more than a week of family dinners, cooked lunches for my husband and myself for the first half of the week, ... made mini quiches for breakfast on-the-go, made treats (healthy chocolate brownies) for the kids' lunch boxes (enough for 2 weeks!), and cleaned up the kitchen! I set myself up for success by being organised. Recently I've decluttered our pantry, fridge and freezer - and our kitchen cabinets, streamlining them to support me and my goals. Not a simple task, but so very worth the effort
18.01.2022 It's not just the inside of our home that benefits from a good decluttering - our sheds and garages can too! #beforeandafter
18.01.2022 I feel lighter now that I've completed a little weekend decluttering When we moved from Qld to Tassie last year, I tucked a lot of spring/summer clothing away in a box in the cupboard as it was not appropriate for the cold temperatures of Tassie. Having experienced a Tasmanian summer and now entering the next, I needed to declutter these clothes (it was overdue!).... Today I sorted these clothes - over 50 items in total... - only 11 were kept (mostly for when holidaying in hot climates), - over 30 items (2 garbage bags full!) will go to the opp shop tomorrow, - another 7 items I'll give to a friend, - and a further 2 threadbare items will be recycled (cut and used as cleaning cloths). Climate aside, it's amazing how quickly fashion trends and our taste in clothing changes. Our body shape/size can change in a short period of time too. Our daily needs (for example corporate wear vs a uniform) can also mean that some items are no longer necessary. When did you last clear out your clothes? How did you feel?

15.01.2022 It can be overwhelming and difficult to know where to start when your home is in a disarray. My advice is start anywhere, but start small. Choose a drawer in the kitchen or bathroom and spend 15 minutes decluttering the things you don't need, use and love. Also discard things that are damaged or expired. This success will give you the motivation and confidence to attack larger decluttering tasks.
13.01.2022 Monday, the start of a new week - a new beginning. What can you let go of that no longer serves you - to improve your space and your well-being?

13.01.2022 What a lovely group of ladies at this morning's workshop! We had some very thought-provoking discussions about the effects of clutter and why it's so difficult to declutter - and how to overcome these barriers.
03.01.2022 Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas
03.01.2022 #beforeandafter A curated book collection makes it easier for kids to select a book to read - and easier to keep tidy and organised. Start by letting go of those books that:... are damaged the kids have out grown you or the kids don't enjoy reading are continually overlooked for 'better' books Finding a great place or cause to donate your books makes it easier to let go. About 30% of this book collection was given to a local daycare centre who were very excited to receive some fresh reading materials
02.01.2022 If you're trying to squeeze something into a cupboard and thinking you need to get more storage boxes or buy a bigger house, perhaps just start with a good declutter
