25.01.2022 We've been very busy for the last few months. Now we have a little bit of time to do a few of those things we've been wanting to get to.
25.01.2022 Need a quality reliable Electrician in the South West?
25.01.2022 Stolen from another east coast Electrician but oh so relevant. Do you or your partner try their hand at doing your own electrical work? Let me explain why this is a bad idea.... I’d say 30% of my job is fixing up dodgy diy installs where a partner or relative have had a go at installing a ceiling fan, rewiring the lights or bought all the gear at Bunnings and tried installing a PowerPoint.... 1- What many don’t realise they’re most likely voiding their home insurance if there’s a fire as insurance companies and investigators will look for the cause of the initial spark and who was the installer. Electrical fires are the leading cause of house fires in Australia 2- It will inevitably end up costing the client more than if they did it right the first time by hiring an electrician. A DIYer generally won’t have installed it correctly, the parts used will probably be cheaper Poor quality brands that won’t last and to meet building codes will most likely have to be rewired anyway. 3- They’re endangering themselves, their family and any future electricians working on their home. Generally because they won’t follow the wiring rules or follow correct procedures they’re more likely to have loose joints that could catch fire, won’t connect the earth cable properly, leave exposed wiring in the roof and won’t install a safety switch. 4- It’s highly illegal with fines up to $25,000 and even imprisonments I can hand on heart say the only few times I’ve had bad electrical shocks in 15 years have been from dodgy diy work where lights were connected to power circuits, permanent power connected to metal frames of lights and live old cabling left in the roof. I hear every excuse under the sun... My husbands an engineer My dad was an electrician My brother is good with tools It’s just 3 wires I can just YouTube it and buy the parts a the big hardware store It’s no different to driving a car, if you’re not licensed and insured you’re not only endangering yourself on the road you’re making it dangerous for every other driver too and breaking the law. So please for mine and your families sake always use a licensed and fully insured Electrician!
