23.01.2022 Market Update Had a great market day yesterday looking forward to a busy Monday of deliveries! Got some market updates from farmers and wholesalers yesterday at the markets. At this time of year fruit and veg prices are quite high due to Winter crops (apples, broccoli, avocado etc), finishing up. And summer season hasn't quite begun so many summer fruits quite expensive. ... Unfortunately due to covid farmers also haven't had enough pickers to pick Fruit (often overseas workers) so some farmers are only collecting just 10% of fruit like mangoes in Qld and NT. Summer fruit prices are always higher than winter prices but especially so this year I believe. I will absorb some of these costs and still provide great quality fresh fruit and veg from the markets same day. Thanks for supporting my little Fruit and veg business Love Becs fruit and veg
21.01.2022 Hey guys thanks for a fantastic market week yesterday and Friday . Ive learnt a few things and always striving for better service each fortnight *Mango tip. NT mangoes are delicious even with green skin as they are tree ripened ready! If they are slightly soft they are ready and delicious! Don't wait until fully yellow skin, once mango is slightly soft put it in the fridge for over a week will be lovely Everyone seems to be loving the cherries. Thinking of doing a 1kilo or 500g special on cherries as a bonus. Enjoy your cooking and enjoying this week

04.01.2022 Thanks everyone for a great market day yesterday! Womboks and zucchinis from my lovely farmer Raymond from Richmond area. I love to support local farmers!
01.01.2022 So I walked into my local "large supermarket chain" store for a few essential groceries. I was totally shocked to see blueberries $2! Don't get me wrong I love a good sale, but as a small fruit and veg box delivery service I'm thinking HOW CAN I COMPETE WITH THIS! This is the same price I pay wholesale at the markets! I thought these prices are so low my little business will be over by the end of the week!... I collected my groceries and went home..... I came home upset and told my husband I might as well throw in the towel the "little guy" cant win against the big supermarket chains. My husband told me about something called a "loss leader" a trick big supermarkets use to lure people into the stores.... I looked at my docket and realised id thought id saved so much on a value shop if groceries such as cheap milk bread ect but my bill was still$180. I think I was tricked into thinking supermarkets were saving me so much but actually the supermarkets choose a couple of items that they loose money on, and the prices on all the other items are much more expensive. Apples$5.99 kg, oranges $3.99 kiwi$8.99? Thanks to everyone who supports local small business . Especially busineses that are cheaper than supermarket prices with less packaging. I'm also a big believer in supporting my community with donating to local charities. For more information Google "Loss leader" strategy. And don't be tricked, buy your cheap blueberries and get out LoL
